Hello everyone,
I’m new to the community and DJaypro, really impressed at the feature set, coming from a NI traktor setup before.
I’m trying to midi map my AKAI LPD8 MK2 so i can use it’s pad buttons to toggle on and off samples in the looper - seems simple enough and the pads work great setup in the config shown in the screenshot. I’m on a windows laptop BTW.
The problem I’m having is i want to be able to change the button type to “toggle” but the default type dropdown is greyed out? - Is there a way to access this?
Without this setting i have to press the pad twice to turn off the sample which is frustrating, i want it to act like a single button toggle.
Any ideas, or previous experience with similar pad midi devices?
Thanks in advance
Hi @ayjayuk, welcome to the Community! The Toggle option is only available for certain MIDI commands. The Looper in djay is not designed to work in a toggle button mode.
Thanks for the speedy response!
That’s a real shame, having a second pad press stop the playing sample would be a really useful feature, users could then map to any pad based control surface to add loads of creative loop triggering.
It’s also exactly how the tablet/windows UI works, press once to play, press again to stop, it’s a shame that isnt the same effect when the action is triggered by an externa device.
Any chance it could be considered for a later update?
you’re welcome @ayjayuk. I’ve changed your topic from a Question to a Suggestion and will pass this onto our dev team for consideration. I’ve also adjusted the topic title for clarity. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this. Thanks!
That’s great thanks.
I’m actually thinking my explanation is perhaps missleading, as really it’s not to do with button modes - more the actions exposed from the looper.
The functionality just needs to mimick the tablet version - same button press to start or stop a looper sample.
Perhaps this has nothing to do with button modes and just needs a new dropdown action specific to the looper that is “Track X: toggle sample Y” - rather than “Track X: trigger sample Y”
Anyway, Hope some other people upvote, and see the creative power this feature could bring.
I could attach my push 2 and have loads of beatmatched samples at my fingertips on an illuminated surface which shows me what is playing - interesting thought!

I see. Thanks for the additional clarification @ayjayuk. I’ll share this with our devs.
