Hi Djay’s,
For DJs (whether hobbyists or professionals) who rely heavily on the “Match Tracks” feature to manage both manually set and automatically generated match suggestions, here’s a proposal to enhance usability and precision:
-
Visual Indicator for Manual Matches
Currently, the right-hand panel’s match list (on laptops) combines manually created and automatically generated matches into one continuous list, which can be confusing as it’s not immediately clear which matches were set manually.
Solution: By adding a visual indicator, such as an icon or colored border, to manually created matches, these would become instantly recognizable within the match list.
-
Directional Match Option (One-Way or Two-Way)
Additionally, I propose adding an option to specify whether a manual match (done by Related-track) is one-way or two-way. In practice, a smooth transition from track A to track B does not always mean that track B will work equally well as a lead-in to track A, due to differences in key, tempo, beat, or lyrical flow.
==> Supporting one-way relationships would filter out irrelevant matches, keeping the match list concise, relevant, and reliable.
These updates would not only improve the functionality and clarity of the Match Tracks list but would also be particularly valuable in live-mixing situations where speed and precision are essential.
