Expose Harmonics & Bass Neural Mix Instant FX

Hello Algoriddim Team,

First of all, thank you for the incredible work on djay Pro. I recently started using djay Pro 5.6.2 with my RANE Performer, and I have been very impressed by the flexibility of the software and the MIDI mapping system.

As a former Serato DJ Pro user, I have already customized my controller to match my preferred workflow. For example, I successfully remapped the Neural Mix pads so that they follow the Serato order:

  • Vocals

  • Harmonics

  • Bass

  • Drums

This works perfectly.

However, I have reached a limitation regarding Neural Mix Instant FX.

The lower row of pads on the RANE Performer triggers Instant FX 1–4. When editing the available Neural Mix Instant FX, I noticed that only dedicated effects for Vocals and Drums are available (Echo Out, Chop, Loop, etc.).

Unfortunately, there are no equivalent Instant FX for Harmonics or Bass.

My ideal workflow would be:

Top row

  • Vocals

  • Harmonics

  • Bass

  • Drums

Bottom row

  • Vocal Echo Out

  • Harmonics Echo Out

  • Bass Echo Out

  • Drum Echo Out

This creates a very intuitive workflow because every column always represents the same stem.

While investigating this, I also inspected the MIDI mapping files. The pads simply trigger:

  • turntable.instantFx1

  • turntable.instantFx2

  • turntable.instantFx3

  • turntable.instantFx4

This suggests that the limitation is not in the MIDI mapping engine itself, but rather in the list of available Neural Mix Instant FX.

Since djay Pro already allows routing effects to individual Neural Mix stems (Vocals, Harmonics, Bass and Drums), I was wondering:

  1. Are dedicated Harmonics and Bass Neural Mix Instant FX planned for a future update?

  2. Is there already an undocumented way to create custom Neural Mix Instant FX targeting Harmonics or Bass?

  3. Could these effects be exposed as Instant FX and as individual MIDI actions, just like Vocals and Drums?

I believe this would significantly improve the workflow for users of controllers such as the RANE Performer, RANE FOUR, Pioneer REV7, Pioneer REV5 and other performance controllers.

Many DJs coming from Serato use a workflow where the top row controls the stems and the bottom row controls the corresponding Stem FX. Adding Harmonics and Bass Instant FX would make djay Pro even more powerful and would allow users to recreate—and even improve upon—the Serato Stem FX workflow.

Finally, I have one last question:

If Harmonics and Bass Instant FX are currently unavailable, is this due to a technical limitation of the Neural Mix engine, or is it simply a feature that has not yet been exposed in the user interface and MIDI mapping system?
