External mixer - using different channels

I use an external mixer (Yamaha MG10 XU) in addition to the controller, e.g. to be able to connect additional sources quickly and easily. Unfortunately, only one channel can be selected for output in Djay. Is there an overview of compatible mixers that can be connected via USB and where different tracks can be assigned to different channels on the mixer (e.g. main, booth, sampler, cueing)?

Hi @Chris_R, with your external mixer connected via USB, please try navigating to the djay Settings>Audio Devices and selecting Mixer Mode>External.

Thank you very much, but I know the settings. My problem is that my current mixer does not offer the possibility to select the channels as differentiated as described. There is only one stereo channel available for everything that comes to the mixer from my iPad via USB. So I was hoping there are external mixers that offer more options in this area.

You’re welcome @Chris_R. Thanks for the clarification. I think you’ll need to find an external mixer that is USB Audio Class Compliant for this to work on iOS. I think your best option would be to look at DJ Mixers that are supported on iOS instead of Live Mixers like the Yamaha you have.

Looking at our iOS support list there are several mixer options: Xone:96, Xone:PX5, Denon DJ X1850 Prime, Numark Scratch, Pioneer DJ DJM-A9, DJM-S11, DJM S5, DJM-S7, RANE MP2015, SEVENTY, SEVENTY-TWO, Reloop ELITE, and Reloop RMX-95.

I hope that helps.

I have the older one AR8USB and I can plug it into my iPhone. I have Stanton str8150 turntables and can use timecode also. I can’t remember if you have to sacrifice booth out (ctrl room out) for pre-cuing though and I can’t check till next week

External mixers with 4-channels (Out):

  • Allen & Heath ZEDi-10 (4 In x 4 Out)
  • Mackie ProFX10v3+ (2 In x 4 Out)

Notes:
Yamaha external mixers seem to only have 2-channel audio interfaces.
