Hi friends,
I am sharing the UNMASTERED version that I posted to SC. I know there’s timing issues in the vocal in the beginning
otherwise, what else can be improved? What did you like?
Intention: I created this mashup for an AFTERHOURS tech-tribal mix (approx 1 hr) so the feel will be dark, trippy, hypnotic with lots of drums, bass, some tribal chanting. I do like to include nods to pop music sparingly mixed with the underground sounds for relevance and I am pretty happy with how LG’s vocals and style blend. Pls enjoy!

are the two songs in different and completely unrelated keys?
Hi Soundude,
I’m just beginning so I use the Camelot Wheel because it’s a little easier to remember. I will give an example of what I did below:
Previous track @ key 2A > My mashup > Next track @ key 3A
The two songs I used for the mashup:
Business acumen @ key 8A. I brought this up one semitone at 2:03 to 3A so that it can marry up with 4A and 2A.
Abracadabra @ key 4A.
The resulting mashup was analyzed at 12A.
As I was writing this, I realized that I made some mistakes in key both in my planning for the mash up and planning for the mix. I have a “key” constrain here with LG’s vocals. I read that easily recognized voices like hers should not be pitch shifted much from the original (4A). Her voice sounds cool at 9A (one semitone down), so I wanted to center the mash up around keeping it there or at its original 4A, but I forgot that the Camelot wheel doesn’t go 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and that it jumps around.
Shoot, wrote this response a while ago and never posted.
