Few Suggestions for Enhancing Djay's Design and UX

Hi all users,

I would like to offer a few design suggestions that could improve the overall user experience in Djay so please vote for this improvenent when you agree.

It is especially for users who work with the software for extended periods, often in low-light environments. A well-thought-out design is crucial for creating a pleasant and efficient workflow, and these adjustments could make a big difference.

Firstly, I’d like to suggest making the gain knob larger and more visible. Currently, it’s quite small, which makes it harder to interact with. It would also be helpful to display the gain value so that users can easily see and adjust it with precision.

Secondly, I would propose adding a bright blue line under all faders in the software. This would allow users to quickly and clearly identify the fader’s position, making it more intuitive to work with during live sets or in darker environments. Additionally, this would give the software a more attractive and lively appearance.

Other DJ software such as Serato, Rekordbox, and Traktor (see attached video) already include faders visual indicators, which greatly enhance visibility and ease of use.

Thanks for the detailed suggestion and video @DJ_Big_Blender. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!

Really good suggestions. I’ve voted.

Great suggestions love it!!!

You have my vote. I love to see new designs.

Agree some visual elements could use more contrast. Most users won’t care about faders since this will be co trolled via hardware but thing a that are only shown on screen could be bigger/higher contrast.

Also would love to not have everything buried behind a second click. Goal would be to never need to use the laptop keyboard or trackpad. For example changing to a different CFX requires too much laptop key pushes vs seeing the selected CFX and scrolling using your controller buttons.

Hi all,

Great to see that there is so much support for this, and that there are also other ideas.

@djchase: Yes, I also use the controller, but I like to clearly see the corresponding faders on the screen as well—not only for software-only use.

What do you mean by CFX? Are you referring to the effects that are under a secondary tab?
