Version of operating system Mac OS Ventura 13.7.4:
Version of djay 5.3.1:
Hardware/controllers used DDJ-SX2:
Summary of the issue:
When setting a “Auto Cue point” it sets it correctly,
but when you tap the same cue point on your RGB DDJ-SX2 pad
the cue point moves and sets itself just slightly ahead.
so you shift+RGB pad to delete the cue point, then set the cue point again,
no more issues
this only happens when you set the first Auto cue point the first time,
Hi @eecy_cee, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue - this is very helpful! I’m not sure that I 100% understand your issue. Can you please try to capture a short video of the issue and upload it here? Thanks!
the issue only happens the first time, the second time you apply a auto cue point, its ok. Its definately a Bug, hope the video helps:) Thanks for the help Slak Jaw🙏🏼
Thanks for the video @eecy_cee this is very helpful. Just to let you know, you can now upload video files to the Community directly as long as they are less than 200MB.
Please note that you cannot currently set Hot Cues before the start of the track. There is, however, a suggestion topic for this feature:
Thanks Slak Jaw, I’ll remember that for next time i think my video files was bigger then 200mb
Just that, the New DJay 5.3 has this new feature:
Cue points now snap to closest beat when long pressing set cue in UI or on hardware controllers
but when I set the cue point, then tap it again, the cue point skips ahead.
Ive edited Angelos Video to show you the new Hot cue mode I’m talking about.
Thanks Slak Jaw, I dont have Quantize on, I used to before but I find that it messes up the sync function. the thing is with my issue, it only happens when you first set the cue point, if you set it again, its fine, Thanks for your help Slak Jaw:)
You’re welcome @eecy_cee. I tested this on iOS and macOS and cannot replicate it.
Are you sure that you are simply tapping the Hot Cue button and not holding it down?
Are you placing the Hot Cue via your DJ controller or via the touchpad/onscreen controls?
Can you please make another video where you are trying to place the Hot Cue somewhere in the middle of the track instead of before the start? I want to share this with engineering to see if they can reproduce it. Thanks!
I’m holding the Hot Cue button down. when I let go, I hit the hot cue button straight away and thats when the Hot Cue skips forward,
I get the same issue using my DDJ-SX2, I also use my mouse or track pad, as shown in my video. with same results.
the new feature works if you set the cue point at the front or the right side of the grid, thats why I like the new feature, you dont have to line the grid up to set a cue point, you can just have it close enough to set the cue point.
Ill get another video up if you like. I might have to have commentary as well:) thanks Slak Jaw.
Ah okay! I think I misunderstood your first post. Plus it’s hard to tell what is happening in the video because you can’t tell when the button is being held vs just tapped. I thought you were tapping the button and wanted to place the Hot Cue “Off-Grid”.
So, you do want the Hot Cue to snap to the nearest grid by holding down the Hot Cue button. However, the first time you try to do this it seems to place it correctly until you later try to activate the Hot Cue. Then it jumps back to the “Off-Grid” original position. Now that I understand, I am able to reproduce this on my end and indeed this looks like a bug. I will pass this onto the engineering team for further review. Thanks!
I recorded a video on iOS to help clarify the issue:
