just bought macbook and stumble this problem where i turn off stem and trigger it with blue button still going like stem is turn as you can see on this vid, any help?

Hi @Aljudge, thanks for the video, it really helps. I can see Echo assigned to CH1 in the BEAT FX section, and you’re pressing the VOCAL / DRUMS / INST buttons above it before you hit the blue BEAT FX ON/OFF button. On the FLX10, those FX PART SELECT buttons pick which Neural Mix stems djay sends the Beat FX to.

To pin down what’s happening, could you tell me:

  1. Which buttons did you turn off: the VOCAL / DRUMS / INST ring above BEAT FX, or the stem buttons on the deck?
  2. When you pressed ON/OFF, what did you expect to hear, and what did you hear instead? For example, echo on the whole track versus only one part.
  3. Which version of djay are you running, and which firmware is on the FLX10?
  4. Is the track from your local files or from Apple Music? Neural Mix isn’t available for Apple Music tracks.

A screenshot of djay’s FX section right after you press ON would help a lot.

In the meantime, make sure you’re on the latest djay 5.6.10, since a few recent updates fixed FLX10 stem and FX part-select issues. You can also set the routing on screen: open the FX section, switch to Manual, and click the drums, bass, harmonic or vocals icons next to the effect. I hope that helps!

@Aljudge thanks for the details. Since it also happens with tracks from your own local library on the latest djay and firmware, TIDAL isn’t the cause.

On a local track, could you try these two things and tell me what you see?

  1. On the FX PART SELECT ring, turn off DRUMS and INST so only VOCAL stays lit, then press BEAT FX ON. In djay’s FX section, do the stem icons next to Echo show only vocals?
  2. Now set the routing in djay instead. In the FX section, switch to Manual and click the vocals icon next to Echo, then press BEAT FX ON on the FLX10. Does the echo stay on the vocals, or does it hit the whole track?

Also, when you turned the parts off before, did you turn off all three or just one or two?

Your answers will tell us whether the FLX10 isn’t changing djay’s routing or the routing itself isn’t being applied. If test 2 works, you can use it as a workaround for now. Thanks.
