Full XDJ-XZ Support (Jogwheel & Main Screens)

Hi Algoriddim Team and Community,

First of all, I want to thank the Algoriddim team for their continued innovation in making DJ software versatile and accessible across various hardware. I’ve been an enthusiastic user of djay Pro, and I’m impressed by its integration with many industry-standard devices.

That being said, I’d like to raise a request regarding full support for the Pioneer XDJ-XZ on macOS, specifically addressing the following limitations:
1. Jog Wheel Display: The XDJ-XZ jog wheel currently doesn’t display track waveforms or playhead positions, which are critical for professional DJing.
2. Main Display Screen: The central screen of the XDJ-XZ doesn’t show full track browsing and performance details, unlike the support you’ve provided for Pioneer’s CDJ-2000.

Given that the CDJ-2000 (a standalone Pioneer device with similar architecture and Rekordbox integration) has been implemented with full display support on djay Pro, it seems feasible to achieve this for the XDJ-XZ. Both devices rely on similar Pioneer software protocols, and many DJs, including myself, rely on the XDJ-XZ as a hybrid standalone/controller unit for its portability and versatility.

The XDJ-XZ is increasingly becoming a go-to solution for professional DJs, especially in event and club setups. Expanding its full compatibility with Algoriddim djay Pro would make it even more valuable to your user base.

I kindly ask the Algoriddim team to consider:
• Prioritizing jog wheel display integration for track visualization.
• Adding full support for the XDJ-XZ’s central screen for track browsing and performance stats.

These features would not only bring the XDJ-XZ support on par with the CDJ-2000 but also further solidify djay Pro as a leading platform for seamless cross-hardware compatibility.

I’d love to hear from other XDJ-XZ users in the community—does anyone else feel these updates would enhance their experience? Let’s discuss!

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi @Joseph_P, thanks for the positive feedback! It’s always appreciated. I will pass on your suggestions regarding the XDJ-XZ screens to the dev team.

Please note, however, that the hardware manufacturer needs to unlock access to their screens before we can add support for them in djay. We have reached out to the manufacturer requesting this, but it will help to expedite the process if djay users could also contact the manufacturer and express their interest in having screens unlocked for Algoriddim djay. Every voice helps. Thanks for your support!

Merry X-Mas

Could you please show me which informations could be displayed?

Is it still possible to display time, tempo and BPM?

Is there a documentation? Looking also for informations what functions work with DDJ-XP2 and DJay Pro.

Regards,
Heiko

Thanks @Slak_Jaw
I understand your message and I will point out to Pioneer/Alpha your request is that it seems strange to me that other similar Djay software like virtualDJ has this feature enabled.
So in my opinion given also the little beauty in seeing messages like (no audio etc etc) visible on the jog which honestly is not very pleasant since by now the latest “interesting” consoles (example flx-10) all have the display on the jog don’t enable this feature also on djay and be you the main spokesperson.

Hi @smash, our team is working with manufacturers to unlock their screens so we can support them in djay. When this happens, we will share the good news here. Thanks!

Uauuuuuuuuuu!!! Thanks!

You’re welcome @smash

@Slak_Jaw is there a good email that you’ve found to contact them with? I just picked up a 1000-SRT and would love to see jog wheel displays work, but totally understand the frustration of companies locking features down.

Hi @shmimel, I don’t have a specific email contact for them. I recommend checking out their support page for a direct contact. I hope that helps!

I’m contacting you again to ask if you plan to update DJAy Pro for full compatibility with the XDJ-XZ, including the screen, color jog wheels, and pads? Thank you for your reply!

Hi again @Dj_Banane, thanks for reaching out. We don’t have any news to share regarding this hardware.

Hi,

Since you guys have access to the Pionner DJ/Alphatheta devices screen I really hope the XDJ-XZ is added. I love your software overall, the stems and other features are amazing but at this point your the only major DJ software who doesn’t support the XDJ-XZ. Rekordbox, Serato DJ, Virtual DJ all support it. It’s the only feature missing for me (and a lot of user I’m sure) to really switch to Djay Pro.

Thanks for your great work !

if this was the case, why does VDJ have full screen and Jog support, I do not believe this to be true

Something for Algoriddim to consider, financially, there a many many more XDJXZ users than XDJ AZ or Prime System One users, you could poach a whole load of user and subscriptions from other platforms if this Flagship device was fully supported.

Hi @paul_gordon, thanks for the feedback. I’ll pass this onto our dev team.

DJ Pioneer response to unlocking screens, etc. Is that something Algoriddim can override in the future?

Hi @solestar, welcome to the Community! Thanks for sharing. I will pass this onto our dev team, however, I suspect without the manufacturer’s collaboration this will be challenging.

Ive mentioned it before why would it be challenging, VDJ had it since day one, if VDJ achieve Fluid beatgrids which are in the works, what do you think might happen ? Alpha Theta are playing politics because they have a new Standalone out, forgetting there are approximately 350k XZ in the wild and only 60K max AZs, Djay just IMO do your own thing, its your subscriptions not Alpha Thetas, being honest. Also they still have Pioneer Branding, lazy staff, lol
