Your question/suggestion/feedback:
Hello,
I would like to ask if there is a way to map the 6 buttons between the toggle switches? The plus and minus and both toggles appear when in the mapping menu, but when I press any of the buttons below (1,2,3 Left or 1,2,3 Right) they do not interact with the menu. I do see that the + and - buttons have 3 more options below each that are named the same in the map menu but it does not allow to map that specific button. All it does is override whatever is selected for + or -. You can see an example in the attached image of the mapping menu.
Would you be able to fix it so that each of those buttons can be mapped as well?
Hi @japesofwrath, welcome to the Community! Can you please check if those buttons send MIDI commands outside of djay? You can use a free MIDI monitoring tool like MIDIView for Windows.
Hello,
These buttons do actually send MIDI commands, but the way the mapping is implemented by DJAY, they are programmed to work “in the background” if you will, to select the FX assigned to the toggle and switch the LED on or off accordingly (you can see this is still the case even with no software running).
I guess you could have access to them if creating a new mapping from scratch, but the LED would still change automatically.
Hello!
Yes they do send MIDI commands outside of djay. They work in both my tray agent and actually work as FX buttons when using Serato. The toggle lets me turn the effect on when up or down, and off when resting in the middle. The 6 buttons let me select the effect I’d like to use. In the ASIO configuration it recognizes the -/+ and the 6 buttons as the same thing so any changes to one affect all of them. DJPhatso also has an explanation below your reply about what the possible problem is.
Thanks for confirming @japesofwrath. I suspect our hardware engineering team locked these buttons out on the back end to ensure proper functionality with djay. I’ll reach out to them on Monday to confirm though.
Thank you so much for your help. Being able to utilize those buttons with djay would be super helpful especially for quick FX or other functions.
Hi again @japesofwrath, I checked with the hardware team. Unfortunately the 1/2/3 buttons on the T7 send MIDI notes that interact with the paddles and don’t have controllable LEDs, which makes it pretty confusing/not possible to remap them. This is why they are not available in the MIDI mapping editor. I hope that helps explain things.
