Gigaport EX soundcard stopped working on iOS

Hello,

This issue forced me to turn to the forum because I just tried for hours on end to make it work again, to no avail. I’ve tried every cable combo and powered hub I have around.

The Gigaport EX soundcard used to work just fine, even with my iPhone! I use it in external mixer mode to occasionally add digital playback to my analog setup at home. ch1-2 for deck one and ch3-4 for deck 2. Now, it only works on my Mac.

The channels show up in the configuration tab on iOS but no sound comes out.

iPad Mini 5, iPad Pro M1 and iPhone 14 Pro with latest updates and everything.

It’s been a loooong time since it last worked, I have had to move and other life things made me put that hobby to the side, had to be last summer. I’m 100% sure it all worked back then. Tried around February this year for a birthday party, that didn’t work and I gave up after an hour. Finally found time to try again and I’m now convinced this is a software problem on Algoriddim’s side.

An hour ago I did manage to make it work by goofing around with the options, playing audio in another app then coming back to it djay, worked two times only, only on the ipad pro. wasn’t able to reproduce that since.

Did anyone encounter similar problems recently? Could Algoriddim support look into this please?

USB can be fiddly. Be sure to check this thread.

Hello everyone! I’m trying to connect my ESI audio interface (Gigaport Ex - 8 outs) to my iPad Pro M2. It works well with every other app I’m using and I can select each one of the 8 available outputs. However, when I set the Djay app by Algoriddim to External Mixer Mode it doesn’t work right. Djay reads Gigaport Ex as audio output, but I can’t route Deck A to output 1-2 and Deck B to output 3-4. What’s the problem? Thanks.

Hi @Marco_Autiero,

Thanks for sharing your experience with djay in our forum.

So that I can better assist you, could you please answer the following questions:

  1. What version of iOS is running on your device?
  2. What version of djay are you using?
  3. Have there been any updates to this issue as of late?

Looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a nice day!

Hello and thank you for bringing this up, I have the same problem. I’m running iOS 17.2.1 on an iPhone 14 pro max.

Maybe helpful to know: if I connect the sound card to my mac I have to change the template in Audio-Midi-Settings to one with 8 outputs, there are plenty of presets with different amount of channels and different settings. On iOS there is nowhere an option where I can select this settings.

It would be great if there is a way to solve this, the card fits perfectly my needs.
Thank you!

Your question/suggestion/feedback:
iPad mini 6
iPad OS 18.3.2
DJay 5.2.10
Audio Interface: ESI Gigaport eX

Only ch1-2 work on first connection with the app open then 0 channels after app restart.
Someone had the same problem as me here but They closed the subject. Here is a Picture/capture the Guy made explaining the issue

Hi @Dimitri, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Please try switching the Mixer Mode to Internal.

Hi! Thank you for your help, it’s not good as well when I’m in internal, actually I’m always in intenal but the capture is not mine, and I didn’t see that he was using external, sorry

Hi @Dimitri, sorry that didn’t work. Also, I have reopened the original topic and merged yours with it. I don’t have access to this specific device to test for myself so I’ll need to reach out to our engineering team for some feedback. I’ll report back when I hear from them.

In the meantime,

  1. Are you using this device on its own or in combination with another device like a MIDI controller?
  2. Are you using a USB hub or any adapters to connect to your iPad? If so, please provide specific details.
  3. Have you checked the manufacturer’s website for update firmware?
  4. Have you tried a different USB-C to C cable?
