Have an effect when activating Acappella or Instrumental only?

  • Device model Mac book pro:
  • Version of operating system Ventura and sequoia:
  • Version of djay 5.2.10:
  • Hardware/controllers used SX2/SR2:

**is it possible, when you activate acapella or instrumental only, to have an effect so it doesn’t abruptly stops **

you can activate Acapella or instrumental with mapping acapella and instrumental to 2 buttons on your controller, when you activate either acapella or instrumental, it just abruptly stops and it doesn’t sound good, but having an effect like echo out makes it sound smooth.

is this possible?

You can apply effects to vocals but I don’t think you can apply to all of the instruments at the same time. So for example you can echo out just the vocals and you will end up with just the instrumentals.

It should be in the neural mix section of the effects for the instant effects and for the manual effects if you click the drop down arrow next to it you’ll see the option to change what stems the effect is applied to.
here are the options.
Deck
Drums
Harmonic
Vocals

Alternatively if you use the neural mix eq you can transition at your own pace by lowering the vocals, harmonics, and drums you could then lower the harmonics and drums gradually and end up with just the vocals just like you would when transitioning with mids and lows.

If your controller doesn’t have it built in you could consider mapping it to shift+ knob
Shift+high -vocals
Shift+mid -harmonics
Shift+low -drums

Now you can transition as you see fit. Hope this helps. Happy mixing!

thanks for your response Fred, I wish they had effects for Acapella echo out, this effect echoes the instrumental out and leaves just the acapella, and vice versa,

Thanks YungmasterDro I guess this can be a work around:)

Hi @eecy_cee, this should now be possible with djay 5.3.

  • We’ve introduced the new Mute FX that adds echo tails when muting or soloing STEMs.
  • We’ve also revamped Neural Mix FX. You can now select multiple STEMs to apply the FX to instead of just one.

For the full 5.3 release notes, please refer to the topic below. Thanks!

I can’t thank you Slak_Jaw and the Algoriddim team enough,

This update pretty much sets DJay Pro apart from the rest, DJay Pro 3.0 is the best, the number 1 Leader in all DJ software’s combined, surpassing Serato + others, You guys have set the bar and standards that will take years for the others to catch up,

“Stems Pause” affect was what I was looking for to finalise what I wanted in a perfect DJ software, honestly, other DJ software’s don’t get it, DJs have 2 hands, DJay Pro 5.3 has allowed us to do a lot more with our 2 hands than ever before,

I am a long-time user of Serato, Serato, was what I started off as a DJ, with this new update, DJay Pro is my primary and only Software I will use from now on.

As a DJ in 2025, This is what I want, to make my work as a DJ possible in any scenario, To be able to be creative, making the impossible, possible. Thank you again Slak_Jaw and the Algoriddim team :folded_hands:t3::folded_hands:t3:
