Help me decide between Rane Performer and Pioneer DDJ REV7

My full setup is as follows: Rane Performer connected to an Apple MacBook Pro M1. I am using USB A to connect to the laptop (USBC) port.

I actually use the same setting while using Serato DJ Pro as well, without any issues.

Hmmm interesting. Take it you have latest firmware and software updates? Try USB B just to try.

Yes, I have the latest firmware installed and the software is also updated. I had to send my Rane Performer back for a warranty repairs because my headphone ports were faulty. It is currently on its way to be delivered this afternoon.

I will try to switch from usb A to usb B port and see if it works.

I actually don’t have a performer I do have a Rev 5 that I have tweaked to my style. When you get your unit back open up the midi file and press a button, knob etc and if it responds on midi file page then it’s mappable.

Does anyone with Rev 7 share how the Rev 7 is mapped to djay pro? Anyone got this info. How are top pads mapped? Neural mix eq? Bottom pads how are they mapped? I imagine it’s pretty decent due to pad combos you can do.

  1. Top 4 Small Performance Pads:
    1. HOT CUE = Hot Cues 1-4
    2. SCRATCH BANK = Neural Mix Mute for Drums, Bass, Harmonic, Vocals
    3. SAVED LOOP = Saved Loops 1-4
    4. SAMPLER = Samples 1-4
  2. Neural Mix EQ Toggle:
    1. NM EQ Deck 1 = SHIFT + FLANGER
    2. NM EW Deck 2 = SHIFT + REVERB
  3. Main 8 Performance Pads:
    1. HOT CUE = Hot Cues 1-8
    2. ROLL = Bounce Loops 1/32 - 4
    3. SAVED LOOP = Saved Loops 1-8
    4. SAMPLER = Samples 1-8
    5. PITCH PLAY = Pitch Cue
    6. SLICER LOOP = Slice
    7. SAVED FLIP = Unassigned / Blank
    8. SCRATCH BANK = Neural Mix Mute on top 4 pads and NM Solo on the bottom 4 pads

Thanks @Slak_Jaw . Stem eq in Serato and rekordbox is mapped shift flanger deck A and shift reverb deck B. With it being mappable in those two software I would imagine also in Djay Pro. Or do you think there will be a limitation?

I would you to go with the Rane Performer. From what you have described, it already matches your preferences better with the larger motorized platters, built in power supply, and traditional tempo fader layout. As you have mentioned, you do not need the REV7 hardware effects or resale advantage, the Performer seems like the better fit for djay Pro.

Thank you for this, i was only thinking of Rev 7 as more space to work. Also full mixer layout. I’m still looking and researching. I’ll look at the system one also when it lands in djay pro land.
