- Device model : samsung S23
- Version of operating system: Android 15
- Version of djay: 5.3.3 (with pro subscription + soundcloud go+ HD)
- Hardware/controllers used: Hercules djcontrol mix ultra
Hello,
Firstly, the app Djay works perfectly. But when i’m connecting the controler Hercules djcontrol mix ultra, it’s only working few minutes. And then, tracks stop ramdomly.
It’s look like the app don’t know if it should listen the screen or the controler. Jogs became randomly responsive, play button works, but the music don’t move.
If i touch the track on the screen, sometimes it’s playing back. Also if i press the shiflt button. But it’s quickly stop again…
I have try to reboot everything several times. With or with no djay subscription. I try to put off the crossfader FX.
I also try with my computer window with djay pro. And the same issue are also happening..
All batteries are full. I also have a very good internet connection. And the song are fully charged and colored when bugs are happening.
I know that the hercules djcontrol mix ultra open freely some djay pro options. Because i have the subscription, is it possible double user right create bugs? Or maybe something need to be changes one android settings? But i already try to shut off all other app, with no other bluetooth device…
I don’t find any bad comments on this controler with android.. so, could you help !? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Max
Hi @max_laloum, welcome to the Community!
- Please ensure that Bluetooth, WiFi and Location Services are enabled on your Android device.
- Disable the option to automatically turn off your smartphone or tablet’s display before starting a mixing session. In Android: select Settings > Display > Screen timeout > None (or the longest amount of time available).
- Turn off or disable any unneeded nearby Bluetooth devices to avoid potential interference and accidental connection of the DJControl Mix Ultra to other devices.
- Turn off the Mix Ultra.
- Close djay and all other background apps on your Android phone.
- Reboot your Android phone.
- After rebooting, navigate to your phone’s Bluetooth settings and make sure no other BT devices are connected to your phone.
- With the Mix Ultra still turned OFF, launch only djay.
- Finally turn the Mix Ultra ON and perform the pairing process again.
If this doesn’t work, can you try connecting via USB-C cable instead of Bluetooth to see if that works? Thanks!
Are both the speaker and the controller connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth?
This “tracks stop randomly” thing reminds me of a problem I have with my wireless headphones. They support Bluetooth multi-point, so they can be connected to devices like an iPad and a laptop simultaneously.
The problem occurs when I’m using Djay Pro on the iPad while the headphones are connected wirelessly to both iPad and my Windows laptop. The tracks in Djay on iPad randomly stop, as if the Windows is sending a “Play/Pause” signal. The problem disappears when I completely disable Bluetooth on the laptop, so the headphones are connected to only one device.
So, my question is: does this speaker supports multi-point? could the second device it is paired with be active? This could explain why rebooting your smartphone doesn’t help.
Hello,
I tried this method several times, but it did’nt help. Or only during first minutes, and then bugs start..
I aslo add to your instructions:
- do not disturb option on android
- diseable the screen option using the camera to not shut down.
- i don’t use external speaker for the test, only the phone speaker
- no other bluetooth devices
It’s help a bit, bit still not enought..
I try to connect with a usb-c to usb-c cable (data transfert compatible), but the djay android app don’t have this option.. only connect with MIDI Bluetooth..
So i try again with Djay Pro on my computer, connect with USB, and the same probleme occur few minutes later..
It’s really weird because everything works perfectly with no controller…
Did android and Windows device are not well manage by djay for MIDI connection?
Thanks,
Max
Hi @max_laloum, since you are experiencing the same issue when connected to your laptop, I suspect it is an issue with the Hercules DJ hardware. I would contact Hercules DJ for further support and a potential replacement.
Hello,
Yes i already have a ticket on Hercules support. And they say it’s more a software issue
but i just share this bug report with them to see their reaction.
But in the mean time, the controler is brand new, buttons are working well for few minutes.. so i don’t know what to think..
When bugs are happening, it’s true that maybe it’s like we are touching jogs. So maybe your right.
And because i don’t see other topic as mine, i will try to have an exchange of my controler..
Thank you,
Max
You’re welcome @max_laloum. Did you try connecting to your laptop via USB-C cable? Do you have access to any iOS or macOS devices to test?
