How can I stop the 'Your Crates Library contains items that are located in folders that djay does not have access to.' error?

  • Device model : MacBook Pro 16 inch 2023, M2 chip, 16 GB Memory
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): macOS 13.3.7
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.2.5
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): Pioneer DDJ 400

Summary of the issue:

I use Serato with my Pioneer DDJ-Rev 7, and Djay Pro with my Pioneer DDJ-400.

The reason is because Djay doesn’t support jog wheel wave forms on the Rev-7. So I set/prepare my crates in Serato, and the exact crates appear in Djay Pro in ‘my crates’. This suits me perfectly.

Every time I go to ‘My Crates’ in Djay Pro, an error arrises ‘Your Crates Library contains items that are located in folders that djay does not have access to.’. And a blue Botton ‘Allow Access’ appears. Note that this doesn’t affect my crates, I still have access to all my crates and songs and can play them no problem, even without allowing access. It’s just an annoying warning, that’s all.

After allowing access to the required “Users’ folder anyway, and then removing the warning sign, if I ever go out of ‘my crates’ (for instance into Apple Music) and back into 'My crates”, the warning sign appears again. Every time, no matter how many times I 'Allow Access to the ‘Users’ folder.

My question is: How do I prevent the warning sign for appearing every time I go out and back into ‘My Crates’ folder?

How to reproduce the issue:

Hi @DJRedwood, can you please share a screenshot for which path(s) djay is trying to get permission for when you click the “Allow Access” button? There is probably an unusual path being generated. Thanks!

Hi Slack_Jaw, here are the screen shots of the process. Pic 3 shows the file that requires access.

Thanks for the screenshots. I’ve passed them onto engineering for review.

Hi @DJRedwood, it’s possible you have tracks in your Serato library that are under multiple user names on your Mac. That’s probably why the /Users path is shown. You could try and find these greyed out tracks in djay and then figure out where those files are and move them under your main Mac user or remove them from your Serato library. I hope that helps!

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Hi The issue resolved it self somehow. Thanks.

Excellent! Thanks for the follow up @DJRedwood
