Recently I purchased djay2 for iPad, wich I love, in order to leave behind my good old VirtualDJ in my Windows Laptop, attracted by the integration with Spotify. Sadly, the Rec button is replaced with a Spotify button allowing to export/share track list only.
This is frustrating, because I don’t want to copy 20GB of music to my iPad. That’s the whole point of the streaming service integration.
Recording is not allowed under Spotify. Only songs stored on the iPad through iTunes.
The only way to record is use an external recording device (mini disk, MP3 recorder etc. )
Sorry. What I should have added was that I use the Numark Mixtrack pro II and record from the output of that device, not directly from the iPad.
If you’re not using an external mix decibe, you could record from the headphone socket.
Hi guys,
@ Nicolás: I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding. Due to license restrictions, recording is not supported with Spotify songs. Hope you’ll understand…
@Nicolás: Yes it’s possible to use AirPlay with the Spotify Library. Just connect your device to a AirPlay-device and open the settings in djay 2. There should be the AirPlay-Symbol next to the “Master Volume Fader” where you can select your AirPlay device.
Well this is not stated clearly, from the official site, https://www.algoriddim.com/djay-ipad:
All-in-one DJ System
Everything you need to be a DJ
djay transforms your iPad into a full–featured DJ system. Seamlessly integrated with both your music library and Spotify, djay gives you direct access to all your favorite songs and playlists. You can perform live, record mixes on–the–go, or enable Automix mode to let djay create a seamless mix for you automatically. Whether you are a professional DJ or a beginner who just loves to play with music, djay offers the most intuitive yet powerful DJ experience on an iPad
OK Jeff, but how do I do that with an iPad, what do I need? this is frustrating and poorly advertised.
@Adrian, it’s perfectly understandable. I wish I knew BEFORE I bought the App, misguided by the screenshots and the key features description, as seen in the images I uploaded.
Another question, is it possible to use AirPlay with the Spotify Library?
For example, I have an iPad with DJay2, an AppleTV (not the newest one, the previous version), and an AV System with HDMI inputs, all connected to my Wireless LAN. The AppleTV is connected to the AV System via HDMI, and this one to my LED TV. The I use Airplay in my iOS devices to stream content to the AppleTV and thus to the AV System and/or LED TV.
Hope this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30xs7…
Hi there,
yes you can send out your djay Pro audio (or video) output to your AppleTV.
Cheers,
Lukas E.
Could someone explain what connecting to Airplay accomplishes? Can you essentially blue tooth (airplay) the audio rather than using the Main Outs?
Sorry I’m Airplay illiterate…
Could you give me an example? What sort of device do you need to send the audio out to the Apple TV?
Thanks I appreciate it. So I am using an iPad with DJ Pro (should be no different there) … But my controller is the Reloop Mixtour (which obviously I would like to use the sound card from the main RCA outs)
Is there a way to connect these RCA’s to something that will AirPlay to my TV / Sound Bar / System?
Thanks again for your help!
