How to export custom samples from one laptop to another?

  • Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen): MACBOOK PRO 2018
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): OS SONOMA
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): THE LATEST ONE
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): REV 5

Your question:
HELLO THERE, I HAVE CHANGED LAPTOPS AND WANT TO TRANSFER THE CUSTOM SAMPLES I RECORDED ON THE OLD ONE TO THE NEW ONE; THANKS FOR YOUR HELP GUYS

With Apple doesn’t it give you option to transfer from one to another? With my Mac everything was changed over. If it’s just samples then you can get a usb stick and transfer that way. Probably quickest way as well.

Hi @MAZAL, navigate to the location where you stored your custom samples on your old laptop, copy them to iCloud or an external drive and move them to your new laptop. Then repeat the process for adding them to djay. For more info on adding your own samples, please refer to the linked FAQ below for macOS and iOS. Thanks!

Hi thanks but the problem is that I do not have my original files, I just have the samples recorded into the djay sample bar.

Hi bro, thanks but the problem is that I do not have my original files, I just have the samples recorded into the djay sample bar and I intend to move them into the new laptop’s djay sample bar.

Hi @MAZAL, they are in the djay Media Library package. You can Ctrl-click it and select “Show Package Contents” to access them.

hello @Slak_Jaw I’m gonna have a look at it, thanks

You’re welcome @MAZAL

@Slak_Jaw i’m in there, in ressource, but can only find the sample pacl essentials :frowning:

Please share some screenshots of what you see.

@Slak_Jaw

What’s inside the sampler-pack-essentials folder?

the samples that are included in djay (air horn, cymbal, chord…)

It seems you are looking inside djay Pro, but you should be looking in ~/Music/djay/djay Media Library.

Indeed yes. How can I reach /Music/djay/djay Media Library please ?

Just use Finder on your Mac

Thanks for your time
so im in music but cant find djay or djay media library

  1. You need to close the djay app and open the Finder app on your Mac.
  2. Then navigate to ~/Music/djay/djay Media Library.
  3. Then Ctrl-click on the djay Media Library file and select “Show Package Contents” to access your samples.

Music… you mean Apple music app ?
