How to MIDI map Absolute & Relative modes?

  • Device model : 13" M1 MacBook Pro
  • Version of operating system : Seqouia 15.3.2
  • Version of djay : 5.2.9
  • Hardware/controllers used : Denon HC1000S & DVS

Can anyone help with this, I’ve gone through the entire mapping function list & I simply can’t find the function to midi map Absolute & Relative mode. The ONLY function Im able to find relating to DVS is “switch mode”, which seems to simply toggle between internal & DVS.
Also while Im asking about mapping, is it possible to map one button to do two functions at once? Eg: I want to map the load button to load a track and also switch DVS to Absolute mode.
Any help will be really appreciated.

Hi @magrepairs, please try updating to djay 5.3 and let me know if this solves your issue:

  • Introducing THRU mode to play audio from regular vinyl
  • Improved sync when scratching
  • Improved adjusting of DVS tempo in small increments
  • Improved tempo linking and fixed tempo linking issues
  • Fixed auto-switch to REL sometimes not working

Thanks for pointing out the update (I actually thought I had the newest version). The auto switch to relative is working nicely & is exactly what I needed. Sadly the DVS tempo in small increments still needs some work. I really struggle to dial in my speed to mix with Djay. Serato works flawlessly in this regard. The best way to see how well dvs is working is to turn off the deck to do a wind-down & listen to what djay does… its really not good at all. Even the classic ‘brake’ sound when stopping an SL1200 doesn’t sound good. Hopefully these things can be addressed as time goes on. Is there a midi mapping section on this forum where I can ask for assistance with certain mapping struggles?

You’re welcome @magrepairs. Noted on the other DVS points. You can simply post your MIDI mapping questions in the Questions section. We do not have a dedicated MIDI Mapping Section. You can add a “midi-mapping” tag if you like though.
