I can’t seem to find a clear answer on this anywhere.
Each week, I upload music videos to my Dropbox and then import them into djay Pro on my iPad and have a playlist for them (example Feb. 9 Mix). I record a mix using those videos, and once the mix is finished, I no longer need the videos stored locally on my iPad since they’ve served their purpose.
If I delete the videos from the Music collection in djay Pro (which contains everything I’ve ever downloaded), are they permanently deleted from my device, or are they still stored somewhere else?
As long as you don’t delete them from the Dropbox server you’ll have access to those files. Add and subtract them to the DJay library as you please. Dropbox is just an external HD in the cloud.
I’m sorry but I don’t understand your answer. I no longer want them on my Ipad at all, being on Dropbox (uploaded from a regular pc) is just get them into the Ipad. I still have them saved locally on a external hard drive so even if they go away on Dropbox it doesn’t matter. I just don’t want them hogging up space on my Ipad once I use them for the mix.
So you would find the files in the Files App (do a search for one of the videos if you don’t know where they’re located) and remove them from downloads. You could long press the file and you’ll see an option to ‘Remove Download’. Once the file is removed, you’ll see a depiction of a cloud with a down arow next to the name of the file indicating that the file is no longer being stored on your internal space. You can remove in bulk also if you select more than one file.
Additionally, if you locate any file in the files app and delete it, you also have to empty the trash in the ‘Recently Deleted’ folder. This step is needed for files hosted on your internal drive of the ipad.
Well will you look at that, THEY ARE THERE! I tried that before just going to the Files App but it was weird there was only scattered files there under “recents’ and even “browse” but the second I typed in “mp4” in the search BOOM, there they appeared. Now I can remove videos from Oct 2025-Jan 2025 they are just sitting there as dead space, lol. Thank you so much!
