Last date I recorded my set from the same djay pro in AAC, the problem is that when trying to play it it cannot be played. Do you know any way to repair the file?
@Gabriel_Gonzalez see if you can open it in Audacity.
I tried opening it in ableton, izotope rx10 and logic but no luck.
Ok, but try opening it with Audacity anyway. What exactly happens when you try to play the recording, e.g. is there an error message?
Does the file size look sensible for the length of recording?
If you have another AAC file recorded by DJay that plays correctly, maybe compare the beginning/end data from the good file with the bad one.
@Gabriel_Gonzalez can you please try using iTunes/Music to convert the AAC file to WAV format to see if that fixes it?
Thank you very much for your advice. I tried them and they didn’t work. It’s gone from an error message to just nothing, next time I’ll record it in wav.
Thanks for letting us know @Gabriel_Gonzalez. I recommend you try some testing recordings to see if you can reproduce the issue before making your next important recording.
I managed to open a corrupt recording using VLC player. The corruption happened because I closed the app forgetting to stop the recording.
Thanks for the tip and additional information @DJGetNaked

Hey Community!
My recording is corrupted
I’ve just recorded my awesome 2 hour live set at a club and was so happy to hear it back and upload it later. Unfortunately I forgot to stop the recording and just quit djay Pro, now the m4a file is there but corrupted.
The file size is correct ~117 Mb for a 2 hour set, but nothing is able to open it.
I’m using version 5.3.2 of djay.
Is there any hope to restore my recording? :')

Sorry to hear about your recording. You can try to repair it with VLC player (see above). I hope that helps!
I tried a lot by now, neither VLC nor Audacity are able to open the file. I also tried with the ffmpeg command line tool in order to restore the contents.
With the help of Chat GPT I was able to find out that the header is corrupted and certain data in there is simply missing.
My suggestion to the devs:
Add the function that a running recording is automatically stopped as you close djay Pro.
It’s easily to overlook when in the heat of switching DJs live and what not. Bet more people lost their recordings by that
Sorry to hear you weren’t able to repair it @BlockParty. Thanks for the suggestion, but this has already been made. You can upvote it via the linked topic below.

**Your question:
Hi there,
I’m wondering if you could help me to recover the dj set that I recorded yesterday with the in app record feature. It was a 6 hour set that I played at a pool party in Ashgabat. I forgot to stop recording once I had finished my set and closed the app and shut down my macbook like normal. When I restarted my Mac and the djay app, the recording is there in the recording list with the date & time but when I click on it nothing happens. If I go to recordings folder where the app saves the mixes I can see the m4a file with all details including the size so it’s there but it doesn’t do anything when I try to open it.
I just hope that it is recoverable.
Fingers crossed that you guys can help me out in my hour of need lol
Kind regards,
Kidcutlett
