As noted by Pioneer, the DDJ-400 requires a separate power source.

You will need Apple’s Camera Adapter for this. I made a video showing how everything works together (the controller displayed is the DJ2GO2 Touch but it should work the same way for the DDJ-400): Numark DJ2GO2 Touch + iPhone or iPad (How to make it work) - YouTube
