I just want to watch stuff from my Mac on my Apple TV, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes my Mac sees the Apple TV, sometimes it doesn’t. And when it does, the screen either lags like crazy or shows a black screen.
Don’t you think your mac make, models and OS of your mac and apple tv would be useful in trouble-shooting help for you?
Airplaying video is grossly resource-heavy and so it requires high specs.
My iphone 12 mini struggles to airplay djay video onto my 2019macbook pro screen (but it does, just gets so much slow, hot and laggy while doing it, so the video can stutter a lil’bit.)
Whereas my macbook pro 2019 i7 has no problem air-playing onto an apple tv 4k, or onto a 4k Hisense TV with built-in airplay app via a common 5G wifi. No glitches

I ran into the same problem recently. Right now, Elmedia Player works best for me on my TV. It’s really good for streaming videos and files, and it supports pretty much any format.
