I want to use Algoriddim djay Pro for a hybrid live set on my MacBook Pro.
My goal is to play regular tracks on channels 1 and 2 inside djay Pro, while connecting an iPad running a synthesizer app into a four-channel DJ controller/mixer via Line In, and assigning that external audio signal to channel 3 or 4.
I would like to control this Line In channel from the DJ controller, including volume, EQ, filter, and ideally djay Pro’s internal effects, just like a normal deck.
How can I set up and use a Line In channel inside Algoriddim djay Pro for this purpose?
the better way in my view, to approach your hybrid setup… Djay + Ipad(synth app)
is using virtual audio channels such as Blackhole64, and then creating a aggregate device, with Blackhole64 as the first aggregate device & your audio Interface or mixer connected as the 2nd aggregate(65+66)
this will allow for x4 Djay decks, operating on 4 separate virtual channel pairs & the advantage of VST3plugins(FXplugins) to be added in the chain
ipad will operate on a separate virtual channel pair blackhole 1+2… this is becos when connecting your ipad directly to a mac & then enabling the Ipad to pass audio&midi… the Ipad will always default to channel 1+2 for the most part…
but that is how i would go about setting up things…
one of the benefits of using the idam connection, is you can use a midi controller that is connected to a mac, to control your Ipad

Well, after a long try I will def. say that blackhole output system works but with a huge sound delay unfortunately. It is not suitable for me, especially when I need to hear the sound coming from my iPad beforehand just like Cue buttons on a regular dj controller.
I’m also looking at doing something similar using a Reloop Flux Go, Reloop Mixtour Pro, Djay on a MacBook Air m4 and an Ableton Move.
I’ve created an Aggregate device for this, containing the Flux Go, Mixtour Pro and I’m actually using the Move’s USB C audio out as part of this aggregate device.
I want to use the Move as a live performance device for my own tracks. So I thought that bringing the sound into a Djay deck would the neat solution, as I can then perform using the filter and FX in my usual DJ style.
I’ve achieved this by using deck 4 in Djay in DVS Thru mode, which brings the audio from the aggregate device from the Ableton Move into the deck.
there is the inherent delay that exists within the Djay pro app, and as you cannot change buffer sizes within Dj Pro, nothing can be done on that front
the idea behind routing into the DAW will give you post control of faders… ie Volume(so volume control via DAW is quicker) vs Pre Fader (inside Djay Pro)…
and if your Ipad is connected via IDAM and audio is being passed into Blackhole channel 1+2 to the DAW, your buffer size inside the DAW will determine how responsive the Ipad is, if you are using touch control… try 512 or 256 and then 128 and 64… increase if you begin getting crackle or skipping of audio
what i am not entirely sure about… is if the Buffer size in the DAW affects the Djay pro app… i dont think it does(there is no way to tell unfortunately).. but you will notice if there is any improvement!
im using 1024 buffer size, and have a round trip of 23/26ms… which is a little on the highside… but im use to it
btw: if you are not using a audio interface… you cannot adjust buffer sizes as MacOs system audio does not adjust buffer sizes, thats my experience *shrugs
Your best bet would be a dvs capable mixer or controller with dual sound cards. Routing everything using the thru feature in Djay or routing everything via a daw will create an offset.
However using dual sound cards and monitoring through the mixer or controller will give you the best results.
