Thanks mate - sorry I was unable to find this thread when I checked.
I’ve realised I should have been clearer in my request - what I’m after is a “comments” field for Tidal tracks. Not sure if this is even technically possible but it would really help - I know you have this field for my iTunes tracks but I can’t see it for Tidal tracks
I came here looking for the exact same thing! I’m considering switching from a Serato-based workflow with local tracks organized in iTunes to a DJay-based one with streaming (downloaded to the locker, of course - I don’t trust wifi for a real gig). The only thing that’s holding me back is that I make extensive use of comments on the individual tracks to note things like vocal style, tone, general vibes, and so on. I get almost all my music from Beatport, so I signed up for a trial of their streaming service, and… it doesn’t seem like there’s any way to leave comments on a track. I can see all the comments on my iTunes tracks, but there just isn’t a comments column available for the Beatport tracks. Serato does let me leave comments on the streaming tracks from Beatport, though. Largely, I prefer DJay, but this is a must-have feature for me, so sadly I’m considering switching back to Serato - it’s either that or give up on streaming services, which I don’t want to do either. I’d love to see this feature make it into the product soon!
I’m using the Mac version, incidentally. I’d love to switch to iPad, but I use Phase, so I’ll have to wait until there’s Phase support on the IOS version.
I’m also very interested in updates on iOS comment implementation and the potential addition of tags. I’ve been a long-time djay user, but like many others, I’ve found myself relying more on Rekordbox recently due to its more robust library management features.
While I appreciate djay’s innovative features, I think prioritising core library management improvements like comments and tags would significantly enhance the user experience and make it a more competitive option for serious DJs. These “quality of life” features are essential for efficient workflow and organisation, and their absence is a real barrier for some users.
Just keeping the thread alive here. Which is now coming up to its 5th birthday - woohoo!! Or should that be boo-hoo??
Pleeeease give us iOS / iPadOS editable comment fields for iTunes tracks and as a bonus Tidal tracks too.
I’ve always relied on comment fields generally because my memory is like a sieve and I find having my own comments like “tribal chugger” really help me. Without it I’m like a blind man flapping around. And it’s not pretty.
I can’t really imagine this can be too hard to implement cannot and given the many requests here on this thread alone would suggest it would be a very popular update.
Comments and energy level assignment for iOS next please algoriddim.
The app is amazing to use not just for playing around but for using professionally.
The fact that these are unavailable just seems odd when everything else is this good.
A post was merged into an existing topic: STAR rating and Date Added sorting to IOS pls
Any chance of adding a field for user track notes that would work across streaming tracks as well as MP3’s etc?
I don’t know about anyone else but I’m lost without the feature in terms of putting in mini descriptions of the track for my reference when playing.
Hi @Viper9711, please use search before creating new topics. I have merged your new topic with this existing one. You can vote for this suggestion at the top left of this page.
I can’t believe this thread is 5 years old! As an additional sugestion, if the Files section on the left side of the library can be toggled on/off, that would create more room for the tracks, including (an editable) comment tag.
I want to be able to dj professionally with just my iPad and a controller/Audio card. And no longer be dependent on Rekordbox/Pioneer. But currently the Djay Library is not giving me enough information to switch. I desperately need comment tags!
I totally agree with you! I also don’t understand what the problem is! and I also wish I could colorize the background of the track title!! it would help me also quickly select tracks by energy!! is it really that hard to understand/ and do( so much time has passed and I’m shocked that this is being ignored (
