In 2 years, most dj's will create their own apps

What I am absolutely sure of: currently i’m not alone in creating my own software*, as a dj.
Yes i’m gathering all idea’s from Lexicon to Mixo to Dj.Studio, but most of all: i am creating what I need. So I suppose my question is, are we headed into an era where Algoriddim must open up to 3rd party software as well, just as they are doing for 3rd party hardware?

*library tools

Doubt it, all that says to me is inviting loads of vulnerability into their software.

If anything I can see software becoming more and more locked down, as more and more bad actors attempt to infiltrate peoples data/lives.

With open up i meant having access, just like a controller has. (Not to change anything in Djay Pro)

The ‘access’ is the problem though, that’s where the security is. I can’t imagine for a second any streaming service would allow their applications within 100 miles of an open platform, they won’t even allow their services onto InMusic gear that doesn’t have the DRM chip installed.

Hey mate, if i’m not keep hitting my max usage. i would have done something also.

Exactly like you said, library management. Are you sharing it on github or privatise?

my plan is to combining lexiconn, onetagger and mp3tagger

for now, everything private, not to be mysterious but actually for professional reasons. It takes great responsibility to put something out there. I just really enjoy using this stuff. And not hitting max usage: I combine them in this order of coding strength: Claude > Gemini > Perplexity / copilot > Local Qwen (via LM-Studio on a local server with Nvidia GTX 6GB GPU).

ps i don’t have any paid subscription, only spotify and algoriddim

Nice! Thanks for sharing @rishi

Interesting…thanks for the share, definitely gonna check this out.

Since starting to use mp3 files somewhere in the early 2000s, Im also creating my own library tools. I don’t want to be dependant on a company or piece of software I don’t control. I have my own database, with all my tracks and playlists. I sync this with Discogs, Whosampled, Apple music and Spotify. So for example I could alter my playlist in Spotify and it is then synced back to my own database and to Apple music and my Dj collection.

It would be nice if Djay could have an Ppi, which you could enable during preparation time. With methods to read ‘My collection‘, like tracks and playlist. Then also that you could add new tracks, create a playlist and add tracks to it. Would also be nice to trigger analysing songs. Then during performance you could / should disable the Api

Sounds interesting @EwoutdeBoer. Thanks for sharing.

i think the day will come that djay pro will have an API.
Would you pay extra for an api?

  • Yes, i’d pay an extra 20%
  • Yes, i’d pay an extra 15%
  • Yes, i’d pay an extra 10%
  • Yes, i’d pay an extra 5%
  • Nope.

I’m surprised nobody has made a tool/app that can scrape the beat grid/bpm data from DJay Pro and apply it to the actual file to be read in other DJ software.

That is the good thing about ‘one library’. I let Djay analyse my music, while I have better results with Djay than recordbox. The I export to a ‘One library‘ usb stick. Then I could use the usb in Recordbox or on my Xdj-Az and have the Djay fluent beat grids. If you have them in recordbox you could export them to other software using the tools from MixMasterG. What I understand is that MixMasterG is creating the V2 version of his tools and then you could directly convert from Djay to Serato for example.

But maybe better to stick with Djay. I you miss features from Other software you could use the Suggestions forum for Feature requests and improvements

Thanks for the input @EwoutdeBoer

@Slak_Jaw If the developers think about adding an Api to Djay or a separate ‘Djay Management‘ tool with an Api, I’m happy to help out with the specs. If they would have just a discussion, brainstorm or chat, I would also be pleased to get in contact with them.

Sounds good. Thanks for the offer @EwoutdeBoer. I’ll let them know.

I created one of the features I requested.

It is the recommended tracks feature on steroids lol.

perfect for building sets. I used it myself for 4 months and now I am sharing it with everyone. Originally an app, I learned no one trusts downloads, and apple process was taking too long so it is web based and mostly free, with enough limits to let you experience and imagine its full potential.
