iOS compatibility with RANE Performer

Hello will Rane Performer be compatible with the iPad Djay app ?

  • Device model (e.g. iPad 2023):

  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2):

  • Hardware/controllers used (Rane Performer):

Your question/suggestion/feedback:

You should ask from Rane?
Rane should make the product classcompliant first… i.e. this usually means that there is no need to install any kind of drivers.

Hi @Cristi_Sava, welcome to the Community! Unfortunately, the RANE Performer is currently not USB Class Compliant so it is not compatible with iOS devices. As dj_romy_fi has indicated, this is something that needs to be enabled on RANE’s side via a firmware update. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do from our end without the device being USB Class Compliant. I recommend that you contact RANE and ask them to update their firmware to make it fully class compliant and compatible with iOS devices. I hope that helps!

April 2025 just bought the performer thinking that it will do magic with my ipad pro and djay, just to come on here and find out that we need a compatability firmware to continue our work…that kinda hurts. C’mon RANE, we need the firmware update to make this unit work with our ipad pro.

Hey. Why don’t you share your frustration on the Rane forum of not already. The more who share frustrations the better.

Guys, please see details on the subject from the Rane Forum attached.

Rane is clearly saying that the firewall is not the Rane Performer but from the Apple iPad or IOS.

Please, could this be done to enable djay pro to be my number one dj software of choice?

Many thanks :folded_hands:t6:

Thanks for sharing @Hans_Mulleur

To be totally accurate. This post was not from RaneDJ but from a forum member. Here is the specific post in context.

I have a official reply from Rane Support and they said literally “ My name is James, I’m a level 2 tech support specialist, and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Support for the PERFORMER with djay Pro on iOS is contingent upon Algoriddim. They provide support for the PERFORMER on macOS and Windows, indicating that the issue is not related to class compliance, but rather ensuring the hardware functions correctly on the iOS platform.” So, Algoriddim maybe have to do something…

Hi @Pedro1, the RANE Performer is currently not MIDI Class Compliant. Therefor it is not compatible with iOS devices. This is beyond our control to address via software.

So is it possible eventually th ipad pro will work like macbook? I specifically bough a ipad pro and rane performer at the same time to realize i had to buy a new macbook and then adjust from only used to using a older ipad pro, but upgraded to not using the ipad pro like i could on my older set up from reloop mixon 4 … made it very disappointing concidering i know my ipad and themacbook not having the touchscreen available that i already own andmuch rather to continue learn and use with my rane performer, i amost am at a boiling point of selling it just for that specific reason … i spent like 4k n then another 1500 after i realized it doesnt work with my ipad … i mean big investment in my eyes , i mean i love the rane performer and am learning macbook and is cool features that the iipad doesnt have n vice versa, BUT if both worked both class ios and os same time id be so happy i didnt feel likei waisted my money like i feel i still am with my time bc i genuinely bought it to work with my ipad not my macbook i didnt want to buy but i did so back to the questionn

Hi @MookThaGoat, welcome to the Community! I cannot comment on hardware or software development from Apple. I suppose it’s eventually possible they will support non-class compliant devices on iOS hardware and allow driver installation, but honestly I have no idea. I think Apple Support might be better equipped to answer your question.

Maybe could be something wrong, but after I explained to Rane, what Algoriddim told me, they just replied the following: “Hi again, Pedro. I’m afraid I don’t have any information regarding any upcoming changes to the Performer. However, I think it may be worth asking Algoriddim why their app is capable of working with the ONE MKII, which is also not class compliant. They may be on to something that would potentially work with the FOUR and the Performer as well.” So, if this is true, there is something to do… anyway I will get a Rane One MK2 just to check that is not class compliant as Rane said and I’ll be baack to you with the truth.

Hi again, today I went to a showroom just to check if my app Midi Monitor received some data from a Rane One Connected to my iPhone, and SURPRISE!! Yes! I got Midi data in my iPhone, so RANE IS CHEATING! Is false that Performer and One Mk2 or One, are the same because I could check that One is class compliant. Please! All users of a Four/Performer should open a ticket to make pressure to Rane in order to them develop a class compliant firmware for the Performer/Four, they can doit!

Man I feel like a real asshole. After my new iPad worked flawlessly with my Rane 12’s and Reloop elite I sold my backup laptop with the idea the iPad would be the backup to use with my Performer. My own fault but wtf.

Anyone want to buy a Rane Performer? Haha

Hi, I just tested the latest version 5.5 and I must congratulate you on the work with the waves and the ability to work with the engine off.

However, we continue to have problems with quantize lag and stems lag with the keylock activated.

Thanks for the feedback @Ernes

Stem split has audio dropout on the Rane performer too. Since April :frowning:
