iPad unresponsive after loading a track with Preview playing

    • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): ios 18.7.8

    • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.6.8

    • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): Reloop Mixtour Pro

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

  • When I load a track with Mixtour Pro while previewing a track from library list (hardware mode, browser popup), iPad is unresponsive afterwards. The preview popup is actually still floating somewhere in the lower right.

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Setup : Mixtour Pro (probl. any controller) connected to iPad, a button mapped for track preview.

  2. Put DJay in controls or looper view

  3. turn browse knob on controller to get Library popup (don’t have it locked)

  4. scroll to a track, hit Preview.

  5. While track is still preview hit a load button to load track on a deck.

  6. Library pop will close, but preview popup is somewhere on the lower right, “floating”

  7. iPad is unresponsive

C) EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • iPad remains responsive and Preview popup would close.

D) ACTUAL RESULTS:

  • iPad can not be controlled anymore and “artifact” in lower right corner.

Hi again @Ramon_Richie, I suspect this issue is related to your other one that I just replied to. Again, I was unable to reproduce this on a similar setup so I suspect there could be an issue with your installation of djay. Please follow the instructions I shared in your other topic for re-installing djay and let me know if that helps with these issues. Thanks!

Hi again @Ramon_Richie, are you still experiencing this issue? I have reported your other one to our engineering team already. I’m guessing with this case you are not using the default (built-in) MIDI mapping for the Mixtour Pro. Thanks!

Yes, also have it on the “new” iPad latest iPadOS 26.6.1, fresh DJay install and no mods to Mapping at all.

You need to start with the looper / control layout (just like other “freeze”).

  1. Then turn browse encoder to open library
  2. scroll to a track, but don’t load it.
  3. open queue list, for any track in the queue click the … start the preview.
  4. click load on controller, it loads the track from step 2.
  5. library view will close and the preview player lingers somewhere in the lower right corner

It’s exactly like the other freeze, except instead of tapping a track, click the … of a track in the queue and start preview player. while it is playing click the load button on the controller.

Thanks ran into this same issue over the weekend at my first gig with the MIxtour Pro and djay, glad to see I’m not the only one. Frustrating for sure!
