iPad volume max with DJ2GO2

NOTE: Please use the search function above before posting to avoid creating duplicate topics.

  • Device model (M1 IPad Pro 11):
  • Version of operating system (Ipados 26 beta):
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.3.2):
  • Hardware/controllers used (ipad/iphone):

Summary of the issue:
When outputting djay pro audio to my controller, dj2go2 touch, the volume of the iPad is stuck on max. I can adjust the fader volume and “master” volume from the controller but not the iPad max volume.

How to reproduce the issue:
Connect controller to iPad/iphone. Confirm main output is to the controller. Try to adjust volume with iPad volume physical controls or the dropdown interface controls.

When I connect my pioneer rev 1 or reloop buddy to my iPad or iPhone I can still change the max volume of my iPad. I change the iPad volume because if there is any notification or other non djay pro app related sound that plays, it plays at max volume.

Hi @eyeseeyou01, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. This is expected behaviour when using a DJ controller. In this scenario the volume should be controlled by the controller not the the iPad. Please also note that djay does not support beta OS software.

For further info, please see below:

In the meantime, please try navigating to the main djay Settings and adjusting the Main Volume slider.

If you want to silence notifications you should do that in the Control Panel.

I completely understand the logic and intention but when I use my rev1 or reloop buddy I am still able to adjust the overall device max volume.

I did just confirm this.

When using my dj2go2 I’ll silence the notifications and put on do not disturb but it is something I noticed that is an inconsistent behavior.

I tested with Reloop Mixtour Pro and Mixon 8 Pro and volume cannot be adjusted on iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.5. Can you please share screenshots of the Audio Devices settings when the REV 1 and Buddy are connected?

Perhaps the discrepancy is something related to the beta iOS. I know they have changed some of the audio routing options on iPadOS 26.

Hopefully this short vid can be uploaded but I’m switching to reloop from the iPad output and am able to adjust the volume. I can make a vid of the dj2go2 which won’t let me adjust the volume.

Thanks for the video @eyeseeyou01, but

The only way I am able to replicate this on iOS 18.5 is if I select Output to iPad Speaker in the Audio Devices Settings while my controller is connected. With these settings I’m able to change the iPad volume, however audio no longer outputs through the DJ controller.

I’m not sure we’re on the same page. Here is a video of my dj2go2 connected to my iPad and the app selecting the controller and the volume stuck in max volume.

Thanks for the video @eyeseeyou01. This is the expected behaviour. As mentioned earlier, I suspect the inconsistency you are experiencing with different hardware is due to the beta iOS which we do not support. So, you have 2 options.

Option 1: revert to iOS 18.5 to see if the issue persists
Option 2: submit a support ticket to beta team (📣 ANNOUNCEMENT: djay + beta versions of Apple's new OS's)

I hope that helps!
