Is djay Visualizer Beatmatching?

Tech info : IPad Pro M4. everything up to date.

Hello, for the first time, I tried the Video visualizers (The Djay proposed ones).

I am not sure they beatmatch to the music, so, I am asking.
What do they actually do (do do do…) ?

I think I understand:

  • The speed takes into account the BPM of the music.
  • They react to the A/V effects.

But do they actually listen and “dance” to the music, like varying intensity with the beats and beat drops ?

I think they don’t, or do they ?
Outside of speed (BPM) and effects, they seem more like a movie, not influenced by music. Or is it me ?

Hi @Davidv100, the visualizers do react to the BPM of the music and the A/V FX. They are also quantize to the song beatgrid so they should “pulse” in time with the basic grid and BPM. However, they do not react to the full-spectrum audio waveform - so there is no change in “intensity” with volume changes (for example during breakdowns or drops). I hope that helps.

Thank you @Slak_Jaw,
It’s more clear now.
I think they would be more useful if they could take “intensity” (as you call it) into account, like for beat drops.

Then, we would really have an underrated killer feature.

As of today, it seems a bit too static, although it is dynamic (I am confident you understand what I mean) : it seems too much “not reacting”.

Thanks again for swift reply.

You’re welcome @Davidv100. If you apply the A/V FX and Video Transitions, you can make the visualizations more dynamic.

Yes I know, I have been playing a bit with the A/V effects indeed.

Still, I which the visualizer were a bit more lively, on their own. It may be a feature deserving a bit more love.

But thank you again for swift reply.

You’re welcome @Davidv100
