Is Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk3 Supported in Djay Pro 5.2.8?

macOS 13.0)*:

I can’t seem to get Djay Pro to recognize my controller. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi @GerryAnton, welcome to the Community! Please note that the Kontrol S4 MK3 is not currently supported by djay. Please see the linked article below for our full list of supported hardware on macOS:

Also, you can vote in the topic below to add support for this hardware:

Ok, thanks Will that be coming in the future?
Also, I see the Traktor S3 on your list. That should be plug and play and recognized, or do I have to map every button manually?

Hi @GerryAnton, our hardware team is constantly working to add support for more hardware, but I cannot say if or when support for the S4 will come. As for the S3, yes, it is plug-and-play supported and no MIDI mapping is required to use it on macOS.

Thanks for your quick response. I’ve been a Traktor user for years, and your software is amazing. I’m just looking for the right controller. Thanks!

You’re welcome @GerryAnton. Happy to help! I too was a decade long Traktor user before I discovered djay. One thing I would recommend from my experience is to select a controller that is supported on macOS and iOS as it is great to have the option to plug in your iPhone or iPad as a backup or even as your main device.

Would you recommend the Pioneer DJ Flex 4 or the tractor control s2?

I haven’t used either of those myself, so I couldn’t recommend one or the other either way. This sounds like a great question for the Community though! You could make a new Question topic for this…

Does the s3 need to be put into midi mode before connecting to djay pro?

I bought a traktor Control S2 M3 for use with djay pro. The S4 doesn’t seem
to be supported.
The S2 needs to be turned on holding the upper left hand corner “Flex”
button while powering up to put it into midi mode. Then it all works well!

Yes, as explained in the other topic, this is how NI handles MIDI.

Please pass this message to your management:

That would 200% makes sense to integrate S4 mk3 in Djay:

  • This is still one of the best controller in the market, nothing else has screens + 5.5 motorized jogs + compact format + hardware management for software fx routing on mic… there’s plenty of Pioneer shits that look the same and never was perfect, while the S4 mk3 is unique.
  • OneLibrary is a game changer and soon Traktor users will be free to switch from a software to another => huge market upcoming for you

My choices:

  • DDJ RX, one of the best controller ever made (release FX is as good as paddle FX, needle search, 2x3 fx system that should have never been abandoned, velocity large pads without clic), already compatible with DJay = very versatile ! Everything Pioneer has made after was packing with less functions (remember: you can remap pads for example to support stems or whatever new functions, eg. I remapped beat grid buttons to key shifts like SX3)

  • S4 mk3 that corrects one big missing in DDJ RX = the fx on mic coming from the software. Plus everything I’ve mentionned above. Plus I would say, this controller has a soul ! Like Traktor has, like Djay has.
