Device model: MacBook Pro (M1, 2021)
Version of operating system: macOS Sequoia 15.6.1
Version of djay: 5.4
Hardware/controllers used: Reloop Mixon 8 Pro
I’m having two major issues when recording my sets with the Mixon 8 Pro in djay Pro:
- Mic not included in djay recordings
- When I plug a mic into Mic 1 on the Mixon, it works fine through the master output (audience hears it).
- But in djay Pro, if I set the microphone input to channel 5–6, the mic signal doesn’t show up on the meters, and recordings do not capture the mic.
- From what I understand, the Mixon may only mix the mic at the hardware level and not send it over USB.
- Question: Is this a hardware limitation, or could djay Pro potentially support capturing the mic signal via USB so recordings match what the audience hears?
- Long recordings slowed down / pitched down
- Short test recordings (1–3 minutes) sound fine.
- Full set recordings (e.g. 1 hour) come out slowed down and pitched lower, like a sample rate mismatch.
- My setup: Mic input = 5–6, Recording input = 7–8.
- I suspect the Mixon runs fixed at 48kHz but djay Pro writes recordings at 44.1kHz, which causes drift over longer recordings.
- Suggestion: Could djay Pro allow us to set or lock the recording sample rate to 48kHz to match the Mixon?
Overall:
I want to be able to record exactly what the audience hears (decks + mic + FX) directly in djay Pro, without having to route the booth/master into an external audio interface. Are these current limitations due to the Mixon’s hardware routing, or something that could be addressed in djay Pro updates?
Thanks!
Hi @Tiehan_JPG, welcome to the Community! Yes, this is a hardware limitation - the mic channel is handled inside the controller and doesn’t go through djay.
I recommend that you that you use the Mixon 8 Pro in Mixer Mode → Internal with the Default audio settings. You can do this by navigating to the djay Settings>Devices and first selecting External next to the Mixer Mode. Then select the Revert button near the bottom right. This should switch the Mixon 8 back to Internal Mode with the default audio routings. Then try recording again and let me know if that fixes things.
Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
Following up again on my earlier bug report for Reloop Mixon 8 Pro + djay Pro in Internal Mixer Mode. Still unstable after firmware update and full settings reset.
Exact reproduction & current workaround:
-
My routing:
-
Mixer Mode: Internal
-
Main Output: Reloop Mixon 8 Pro (ch 1–2)
-
Pre-Cueing: Reloop Mixon 8 Pro (ch 3–4)
-
Microphone: Reloop Mixon 8 Pro (ch 5–6)
-
Recording Input: None
-
When I launch djay Pro, Mic 1 has no signal in the software at all, even though the controller shows it’s active.
-
The only way to get mic signal:
-
I set Recording Input = Reloop Mixon 8 Pro (ch 7–8) → Apply
-
Now Mic 1 works in djay Pro
-
But recording only captures vocals, no music
-
So I then set Recording Input back to None → Apply
-
Now recording captures both vocals + music
-
But every time I restart djay Pro, I have to repeat this full toggle process.
-
Mic 2 never appears in djay Pro under any setup.
Also broken: Mic button LED & MIDI mapping sync
Right now the MIDI mapping is reversed:
-
When I press Mic 1 on the controller, it correctly enables the mic in djay Pro.
-
But when I turn the mic OFF inside djay Pro, the Mic 1 light on the controller stays lit.
-
The two states are completely out of sync.
Request:
Please work directly with Reloop to fix:
-
The audio initialization bug so Mic 1 stays active on startup without needing to toggle Recording Input.
-
Add proper USB audio support for Mic 2 so it can be used in djay Pro.
-
Fix the MIDI/LED feedback so the controller Mic 1 light and djay Pro mic state are fully synchronized — turning the mic on/off on the controller toggles it in software, and vice versa.
This setup is currently unreliable for live streaming and recording. Thanks for looking into this.
Hi @Tiehan_JPG, thanks for the detailed info. Can you please provide your latest setup details as well? Thanks!

Hi @Tiehan_JPG, sorry for the delayed reply. I spoke with our hardware team and they confirmed that the mic signal is entirely handled inside the hardware. It cannot be routed into djay. This is a limitation of the hardware. The controller doesn’t provide an audio channel to route the mic signal to djay. This is the same for both Mic 1 and Mic 2. I hope that helps clarify things.
