Hi everyone,
I’m currently using Djay Pro with a Pioneer DDJ-REV5 and having some issues with the device setup. I have Deck 1 set to channel 1-2 and Deck 2 set to channel 3-4 in external mode. However, I am experiencing the following issues:
-
Deck 2 No Sound: While Deck 2 is set to channel 3-4, I can see the signal on the REV5, but there’s no output sound coming through the speakers.
-
Crossfader Not Muting Deck 2: When I change Deck 2 to channel 1-2, the crossfader is not working as expected. When the crossfader is all the way to the left, it doesn’t mute Deck 2, and both decks keep playing, which makes it difficult to transition properly.
I’ve tried switching to internal mode, which makes the crossfader work perfectly, but I can’t record the mic sound when I use it that way.
I’m using a MacBook Pro 2023 and Djay Pro latest version 5.2.4.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could share their DDJ-REV5 device settings that are working well or suggest any potential solutions to these problems. I’ve updated to the latest firmware and am using Djay Pro version 5.2.4 on macOS Sonoma.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi @SimpleSimon, in the djay Settings>Audio Devices, I recommend you try Reset to Defaults.
Hi @Slak_Jaw
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried resetting the audio device settings to defaults, but the issue is still there.
In internal mode, everything works well, except that the mic doesn’t get picked up in the recordings, which limits its usefulness for me.
In external mode, the main issue is that Deck 2 (channel 3-4) is not outputting sound, even though I can see the signal. I’ve attached screenshots for reference.
I also tried a different controller (Reloop 8) and faced the same issue, but when I connect a Pioneer S9, everything works perfectly.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I should try. Thanks again for the help!
Hi @SimpleSimon, with it set to Internal Mixer and the Microphone set to DDJ-REV5, do you have the option of ch 5-6?
Hi @Slak_Jaw
The DDJ-REV5 doesn’t have a ch 5-6 option, but I see that the Reloop 8 does, though it’s still not working when I select it.
Does anyone here have experience with the DDJ-REV5? In the devices settings, are you using internal or external mode? Also, how is your setup configured to ensure that the mic recording is picked up properly in the software when recording?
Thanks in advance!
Hi @SimpleSimon, the DDJ_REV5 should be used in Internal Mixer Mode. I spoke with engineering and recording the mic output on the REV5 is not supported because the mic is handled inside the controller and doesn’t go through djay.
Hi @Slak_Jaw Thanks for checking with engineering. I wanted to ask if the same limitation applies to the Reloop 8. I’m experiencing a similar issue with the Reloop 8 where the mic isn’t being picked up during recording. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi @SimpleSimon, yes the Mixon 8 Pro has the same limitation.
Hi @Slak_Jaw thanks for confirming that the Mixon 8 Pro has the same limitation. Is engineering working on fixing this issue with Djay Pro? It seems like this is not a controller issue, as the mic recording works without problems on Serato DJ Pro, Rekordbox, and Virtual DJ. It would be great if this could be addressed in Djay Pro as well. Thanks!
You’re welcome @SimpleSimon. Yes, the team is investigating this.
