Hey @jmoak311
I’hey @androphonic
Apple will only replace your music if you upload your library. I chose not to upload my library.
The recent ones that aren’t available unless on wifi have been from the Macbook Pro (M2 Max).
Hey @jmoak311
Could you screen shot both a playable and non playable GET INFO results?
Just to confirm filing
Get info/choose file tab
Location of non playable different than playable location?
I will try to do that when home from work. Thanks.
Smile Katy Perry is also unplayable. It looks like they have to be “matched” in the “cloud status.”
I’m not sure if it matters but the Katy Perry can be played while on WiFi but the Charli xcx can’t.
From the screenshots, it looks like:
- Streaming and downloaded tracks are managed in the same folder.
– iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/ - Streaming tracks show as Dolby Atmos files with limited metadata.
- Downloaded tracks show the file format with more metadata.
Notes:
- I think this shows why it’s a really good idea to put downloaded tracks in a separate folder.
- If you keep using Apple Music/iTunes (which I do), it’s important to un-check the Keep Music Media folder organized and Copy files to Music Media folder boxes. (but, I do not know if this completely solves the problem of Apple updating downloaded files).
Will give that a shot when I’m home from work. Thanks!
Hey @jmoak311
I do have Apple Music, but have chosen not to upload my collection, therefore I do not need the cloud to play anything. Is that what you did? Could this be an issue by uploading your collection?
It’s possible. Is there a way for to check, and then un-upload the “collection?” I just signed up for Apple Music when I switched to Djay Pro and things got weird. I don’t remember being asked to upload my collection etc. but it’s definitely something along those lines.
Yes, it would’ve asked you to upload your music into the cloud. I believe you could revert.
I’m just sure what your library would look like afterwards.
Note that I sync my devices manually so I don’t need the cloud to get my music. If I decide to DJay on any of these devices, all I do is look inside of Music instead of local library.
So it looks like by un-clicking the boxes you’ve mentioned, new purchases are coming up as Purchased AAC files, and are playable without WiFi. I’m able to keep the library synced option on as it doesn’t seem to affect the issue I was having atm. Also, when searching in the music app I have 3 options now: Apple Music, my library, and the iTunes Store. I only remember having 2 before and I don’t dare switch things back lol I find iTunes useful and convenient for certain purchases and am glad it looks like I’ll be able to continue to use it.
Did you try to play them without WiFi?
Yes they were playing on djay pro without being connected to WiFi. Thanks for everyones help.
