How to reproduce the issue:
So I just got my second GRV6. I returned the first one because of this same exact “problem”. Channel 1 is displaying less output on the level meters. Although the volume is the same on all the channels though the headphones. It just makes it look like it is playing less loud than the other channels. If I connect my DDJ 400 the levels on 1 and 2 are the same. If I go back to the grv6 is this again. No matter what I do to the trim. Is this a bug that you guys are aware of?
Hi @TonCorleone, thanks for the detailed info. This is a known issue that should be addressed in an upcoming update (likely 5.4). Please refer to the existing topic below for more details. Thanks.
Hey @SlackJaw — just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the Algoriddim team! I updated to djay version 5.4 and it works perfectly. The issue with the GRV6 volume spike is fully resolved now.
Really appreciate the great support, the deep dive from the engineering crew, and how responsive you all were throughout the whole process. Big thanks especially to Slack Jaw for staying on top of this — awesome work!
Just a quick update—the volume spike issue has returned. I’m seeing the same behavior in djay: sudden jumps or misread volume levels that disrupt the mix unexpectedly.
I’ve recorded a new video that shows the issue clearly.
Appreciate your help as always—hoping we can get closer to figuring this out.
Hi @illya_kroon, please confirm your latest setup details:
djay Version:
iOS Version:
Are you using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or a custom GRV6 mapping?
Please confirm what you mean by “sudden jumps or misread volume levels that disrupt the mix unexpectedly.”? Do you would mean the volume coming out of the speakers is suddenly jumping up momentarily, because I can’t hear that in the video. Is it possible you just mean “the LED level meter goes up to two orange LEDs”? Thanks!
• iOS Version: 18.5
• djay Version: 5.4.1
• MIDI Mapping: Using the built-in mapping for the DDJ-GRV6
Regarding the issue: it’s the same behavior I experienced before the update. In the video, you can both hear and see that Channel 2 is playing noticeably louder than Channel 1, even though the track levels are matched. The LED level meter on Channel 2 also spikes higher—reaching the orange LEDs—while Channel 1 stays lower. So it’s not just a visual anomaly; the audio output reflects this imbalance as well.
Let me know if you need any additional info or if there’s anything I can test further.
