Coming from rekordbox, I’m able to move my RB library to my external drive where all my music is stored. That way I can use my desktop during the week for playlist planning/adding new tracks, then when I get to my gig, my laptop will load the same library and I will see all the new updates.
Does anything like this exist in djay?

Hi @discoian, yes djay uses a database called djayMediaLibrary. You can manually copy this between 2 Windows devices or between 2 macOS devices. This database does not contain the songs, but it does contain all of your My Collection Playlists, History, Queue and per-song metadata like saved hot cue and loops.
You can find the database in the following locations:
- On iOS you can find the database using the Files app in On My iPhone/iPad>djay>User Data.
- On macOS it can be found in ~/Music>djay.
- On Windows it can be found in %HOMEPATH%>Music>djay>djay Media Library.
I hope that helps!

Ok so if I want to work on my desktop machine, I copy the djayMediaLibrary file from my laptop to the music Music/djay folder on my desktop…do the work and then remember to copy it back from my desktop to my laptop before heading out to a gig?
I guess that will work for now, it would be great though if there was a way in djay settings of choosing WHERE the library file is saved, ie an external drive to remove this copying process.
Thanks for the replies and clarification!
Yes, that’s correct @discoian. Thanks for the additional feedback
Just wanted to confirm it works as you say, just need to remember copying the file before I go to a gig…
