Hi again @MichaFalki, just following up on this one from a week ago.
Hi Slak_Jaw,
sorry for the delay. I was away for a few days.
But Iâve been testing for a while now.
And I donât know what to start with.
Basically I tested with version 5.3.3033.0.
It seems to be better at first than with the last version.
But as soon as the nesting depth in the directories gets too big, there are problems.
There is a small pre-sorting in my library. For example, I have a folder with albums. Below this is a folder for the letters A-B-C-D-E-F. Below that are the artists and then the albums.
There are around 32,000 tracks in the Albums folder.
This folder causes the most problems.
When I drag this folder into a playlist, I get the following errors (only a small excerpt, there are actually very many):
[23524] 2025-05-27 15:50:09.316 djayApp[23524:8468] Invalid ALWStorageMediaObject array index 24024 - array length 24024
[23524] 2025-05-27 15:50:09.581 djayApp[23524:8468] Invalid ALWStorageMediaObject array index 24024 - array length 24024
[23524] 2025-05-27 15:50:09.811 djayApp[23524:8468] Invalid ALWStorageMediaObject array index 24024 - array length 24024
[23524] 2025-05-27 15:50:10.037 djayApp[23524:8468] Invalid ALWStorageMediaObject array index 24024 - array length 24024
However, if I only drag in the folder A-B-C-D-E-F, it works without any problems.
Another folder has the name âMixedâ. It simply contains 480 MP3s. Without subfolders. When I drag it in, 2 tracks are imported.
But if I always take 30 tracks and drag these packages in until I have all 480 tracks, there is no problem.
Iâm not sure exactly what the problem is. In the case of the âAlbumsâ folder, I suspect that it is nested too much and too deeply.
But in the âMixedâ folder there are no subfolders and there are only 480 tracks.
I can cope with that. In theory, I donât need all the tracks in DJay either. I just wanted to test it because itâs great to have everything directly accessible.
If it helps you, I can do more tests. Let me know if you want me to continue.
Regards Michael
Thanks for the additional details @MichaFalki. Iâll share this with the team and let you know if they have any follow up questions.
Hi again @MichaFalki,
Thanks for taking the time to test this. Weâre not sure if itâs the amount of tracks that causes this, as we tested this trying to import a folder with 10k MP3s and it worked without an issue, so we still think there is something in the files/folders that is causing this to fail.
Could you please try the following with the âMixedâ folder.
- Create a new folder called âMixed Copyâ and then select all the tracks in âMixedâ and drag them into âMixed Copyâ.
- Then try import âMixed Copyâ.
Also if you are up for it, could you zip up the âMixedâ folder and share it with us so we can try to reproduce it here?
Hi Slak_Jaw, thank you very much for your reply.
I can already provide you with the folder. But there is a lot of old junk in there with dubious quality. I wouldnât focus on that right now.
What worries me more is my album directory. Itâs very large and also very well filled.
And no matter which software I test with, it works with all the ones Iâve tried except DJay. Even with the Foobar2000 player, the entire music directory is read in without any problems.
I could also make this available to you, but it must be 300GB. I donât have the cloud storage for it.
If you have a way to do that, I could upload it for you. Even if it will probably take some time.
Hi @MichaFalki, did you try the steps above with moving the Mixed tracks into a new folder? This would be helpful info for our engineering team. Thanks!
Hi Slak_Jaw, I took the test with Version 5.3.3033.0 (I hope like you thought). Now all tracks have been imported from the directory. Here is also a video.
Perfect! Thanks @MichaFalki
Hi @MichaFalki,
Did you:
a) Drag and drop the folder into djay?
b) Select all the files within the folder and drag them into djay (like what you did in the previous video?
If it was option a), can you please do the same with the âMixed copyâ folder? Thanks!
Hi @Slak_Jaw ,
It was option b.
Thanks @MichaFalki. Iâll pass this onto engineering
