Local Files search not working Windows

Hi again @StormeNet, in addition to the setup details above, can you please check the following?

Make sure the folders containing the your local music tracks are set to be indexed by Windows search:

  1. Right-click the folder in Explorer.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced….
  4. Look for “Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties”.
  • Checked = the folder is allowed to be indexed.
  • Unchecked = Windows Search won’t index file contents in that folder.

Hey, I checked the folder(s) and indexed was already ON.

Okay, thanks for confirming @StormeNet. In order to continue investigating the issue, our engineering team kindly requests that you follow the steps listed below:

  1. Install and run “DebugView” app from Microsoft to access logs from djay Pro: DebugView - Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn
  2. Run djay Pro and reproduce the issue
  3. Upload the logs from DebugView to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the files in a DM to me.

Thanks!

In the meantime it’s fixed.

There is in windows a second place for Indexing options. Search for Indexing options in the start menu, and make sure the location of your music is added to the list:
So even when a folder is marked as ‘Allow index’ in the advanced attributes stated by @Slak_Jaw , if that location isn’t a child of any of the locations of Indexing options, then it won’t be indexed.

Good to hear @StormeNet. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi, I use Djay on iOS, Mac, and Windows 11. I’ve noticed a bug in the Windows version regarding the song search function.

In My Files, after manually adding folders to the database, the search index only returns results from the C: drive. Tracks stored on other drives (such as D:, E:, or F:) are never included in the search results, even though those folders have been added to the database.

I don’t want to create playlists. I need the file search function to work the same way it does on my Mac by searching across all the folders I’ve added to My Files.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this issue.

Best regards.

Perfect. Although the search is very slow, it works (only 2 option). Thanks, my friend.

You’re welcome. I suspect the speed will improve with time as the indexing process progresses.
