Looper doesn't start/stop on the downbeat

  • Version of operating system : macOS Tahoe 26.3.1
  • Version of djay (5.4.4):
  • Hardware/controllers used (Reloop Mixon 8 Pro):

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

  • When triggering a looper pad, it’s not clear how it determines which beat it uses to start/stop. It does stay in sync, but the phrasing is off. Ideally it should always start stop on the downbeat.

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. play track on a deck

  2. trigger any looper pad (from any pack) in between downbeats

C) EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • looper pad should start/stop on the downbeat

D) ACTUAL RESULTS:

  • sometimes it starts/stops on downbeat, other times it chooses a seemingly random beat to start/stop on.

Note: It seems to correctly start/stop on downbeat more frequently if only one track is loaded

  1. Does this only occur with the Second Column / Perc Loop Pads?
  2. Are those 2 songs Dynamic BPM or Straight BPM?

hi! having major issues again - it seems like both, the autosnap/quantize start is off - AND the loops are playing back at different tempos.

The loops don’t line up with the track, nor each other.

maaaaan, I may have to fall on my own sword here -

I’m 99% sure this is my fault - I was working on my non-DJ computer - and I was also messing around with Claude Code - and it’s yet to be tested, but I bet what I was doing messed up the looper feature. I will uninstall and reinstall later today, but - I’m almost certain I broke it.

Have you tried using tempo blend in the crossfader FX? I’ve found using that - even if im not using in my transition does a better job of having those loops follow ‘master tempo’

I went to make a video of the above - but then - came up with a similar issue! I dont know if this is supposed to be like this or not - but - I caught ‘something’.

( I understand having a song start without a blend causes this, but, I feel like the loop/song should somehow be synced…)
