so i decided to try djay pro again. but now when i start up its asking to edit my mapping. doesn’t give me a selection of my previous map file and there is no default map to start with. every single button and knob needs to be mapped. this is annoying. what happened with the updates to eliminate map files? i

Hi @Stews_CustomFigures, on Windows, the MIDI mapping should be located in the %HOMEPATH%>Music>djay folder. The (built-in) MIDI mapping should also be saved here.

Is the controller being recognized correctly? If the standard mapping does not work, it could be a hardware issue. First, I would try a different USB port on the computer. If that doesn’t help, try a different USB cable and see what happens.

Good points @Chris_R.

  1. Also make sure you have selected the correct USB Source on the RANE Four for each channel.
  2. I would also make sure you are running the latest RANE Four firmware and Windows drivers.
  3. If none of those suggestions work, I would backup your MIDI mappings and djayMediaLibrary folder, then uninstall djay, download the latest version from the official Microsoft store and do a fresh install.

thanks, i had my usb set up to the B side. plugged into the A side and set selection. my previous map showed up to select.

Perfect! Thanks for the follow up @Stews_CustomFigures. Glad we got it sorted out.

I love djay pro, especially on iOS.
The integration with Denon Prime GO+ is fantastic.

Can you add support for RANE FOUR on iOS?

Hi @Simon_Matsuyama, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the positive feedback. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the hardware and beyond our control to support on iOS.

I’ve posted my own request but removed it. Thanks for letting me know.

Is the DDJ-FLX10 the only 4ch Controller with dual USB, that has support for djay Pro on iOS?

You’re welcome @Simon_Matsuyama, here are some other 4 Channel considerations that are supported on iOS. I’m not sure if they all have dual USB’s though - you’ll have to confirm yourself:

  1. AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ
  2. Denon DJ MC6000
  3. Denon DJ MC6000 MK2
  4. Denon DJ MC7000
  5. Denon DJ MC8000
  6. Denon DJ Prime 4
  7. Denon DJ Prime 4+
  8. NI Traktor Kontrol S3
  9. Numark NS6II
  10. Pioneer DJ Opus Quad
  11. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro

Thank you for the update. I’ve updated the list with dual Laptop support. NI S3 even had a dedicated iOS port.

I still think of this list, the DDJ-FLX10 is still the most modern and best 2nd hand value, but it’s still a toy compared to XDJ-AZ, R4, Prime 4+. I liked the Mixon 8 but found that it’s hard to sell. I hope Denon/RANE comes out with something really exciting soon with dual Laptop support.

Nice work! Thanks for confirming the dual USB ports @Simon_Matsuyama. I personally use the Mixon 8 Pro and am very happy with it. I did, however, consider the FLX10 at the same time. I haven’t tried the FLX10 yet though.

What is the limitation, and why isn’t this always implemented in the hardware? And do you know why manufacturers are choosing not to support this?

Hi @Simon_Matsuyama, the hardware needs to be Audio and MIDI Class Compliant to work with iOS devices. With non-class compliant devices, drivers typically need to be installed for them to function properly. The iOS operating system does not support driver installations. I don’t know why some manufacturers choose not to make their hardware class compliant.

So if Rane would install a proper driver for iOS in the next firmware update, would that open up the Rane four for djay Pro? Or is there a hardware missing?

I’m not 100% sure, but I believe in many cases a firmware update could solve this.
