I confirmed, that this happens to me only while working with m4a files so far, wav/flac/mp3 behavior is normal. So I attached a video. The track is playing and then suddenly waveform disappears and track stops playing or rather it goes on in silence. You cannot catch the signal anymore, have to reload the file to the deck and it plays normally. Happens more often if you jump to different parts of the track with mouse / beatjump.
Hi @Akrilovy, are these songs that you purchased and downloaded to your device (Local Music) or are they from Apple Music streaming?
these are local files. I don’t use any streaming services.
Thanks for the additional info and screenshots @Akrilovy. This could be an issue with the file, either corrupted or not properly encoded. Can you please upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to it here? Then I can pass it onto engineering for further review. In the meantime, you could try converting the file to mp3 to see if that solves it. Thanks!
I send you the file in PM.
this is a low bit rate demo file, but this happend to different files also. I’ll try to keep this in mind the next time this happens and send a different, fully prepped song as a better exaple next time. thanks
is there a way to convert the files from m4a to mp3 (f.e.) and replacing the links to that files within the app leaving beatgrid, cue points etc. ? I have hundreds of m4a’s. Now I’ll suspect them all, but redoing the prep work seems like a hassle. I thought of a workaround, that when and if this happens during live play (which never did btw) I’ll just load in instant doubles and fade it up with some sample haha. It only happend during prep work so far.
Hi @Akrilovy, I’m pretty sure you will need to redo your saved hot cues, saved loops and beatgrids as these will be seen as different files. It might work if everything like to song names, artist, length and other meta data are identical. You could test it with a few songs first and see.
Hi @Akrilovy, I was able to download the m4a file you shared and have passed it onto the team for further review. Will report back when I have news. In the meantime, how did you make out with the test I suggested above?
Since I have hundreds of M4A’s in my library, I decided just to not do anything about them. I hate the Idea of redoing my prep work for so many files if I convert them to mp3. And that bug only appeared when working at home. Actively beatjumping, marking\experimenting. During live plays everything was fine so far. So I keep my instant doubles ready for the time this might happen, otherwise I let it go, same like with the loop exiting thing. I just ready myself for the time this might happen
Sounds good @Akrilovy. Thanks for the update. I’ll let you know what engineering has to say regarding your sample m4a file.
