Mac OS - Sonoma or Tahoe?

Whats up folks! To those running on a Mac, any of yall using Tahoe OS? If so any issues?

Im on Sonoma 14.7 no issues just wondering if its safe to upgrade or play it safe and just stay in Sonoma?

Just updated Djay to its current version as well.

Hi there!

I’m still on Sequoia. I just got the notification for the Tahoe update, but with the weekend coming up, there’s no way I’m updating right now.

I’m not sure how stable djay Pro is on either version. I did see that version 5.4.4 includes some fixes for Tahoe, but that doesn’t necessarily mean everything will work perfectly.

My advice is to keep your system up to date — updated is generally better — but definitely don’t do it right before an event. Plan your update ahead of time. For example, I might do mine on Sunday, so if anything goes wrong, I’ve got until Friday to fix it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Cheers!

Stayed on Tahoe for a week.
Loved the new interface but the animations were not snappy on my i7 2019 mbp.
Finder was really lacking color too (basically paper white with black ink text - didn’t appeal to me).

Overall i felt it was a slow OS too.
Downgraded back to sequoia a day ago.

I am having terrible sluggishness and stuttering of waveforms on djay. Was wondering if the new updates or just my os. Sequioia has not helped too

Hi @MrG, we’ve verified macOS 26 compatibility with the latest versions of djay. djay worked great in our tests with this new operating system. I’ve personally been using it for a couple of weeks now and haven’t noticed any issues on my M4 MacBook Air.

However, as a word of caution, there is a wide variety of hardware setups out there; so, my personal recommendation as a working DJ myself, is to stick with your current setup for now if you have important gigs coming up. Thanks!

I still did not update to tahoe from sequoia.

Is it safe now? Does Djay pro work ok with tahoe?

Anyone working with tahoe so far? any issues?

You’re welcome @MrG. To be safe, you could do a full system backup using Time Machine or other backup solution first. This should allow you to revert to a previous version if you run into any major issues.
