Your question:
Hi,
I have just installes Djay Pro on my new MacBook. I have copied all my tracks from my earlier Macbook. A couple of thousands and not bad: there are only 53 missing tracks.
Now, these tracks are physically present on my Macbook drive.
But when clicking relink, nothing happens, the software says: relinked, but when I try to play the track, they are still missing and everytime I re-open the Link Missing Files window, these 52 tracks are missing again.
Am I doing something wrong?
Welcome! If I understood you correctly, you’re trying to play it from my files. I don’t have any issues, but I’ll tell you how I do it.
I’ve created a folder where I put all my music (I don’t want Apple Music to manage it), and that way, whenever I add a track to that folder, it automatically appears in djay Pro. Then I go to my collection, and it shows up under Added. From there, I add it to a Smart Playlist.
Another detail: even though the song is automatically added when it enters a “synchronized” folder with djay, I still pass it through MP3Tag to edit the metadata. The catch is that this forces me to remove the track from my files and then add it again, otherwise djay won’t recognize the updated metadata. This issue has already been mentioned on the forum.
thank you for the reply.
I agree that it probably has something to do with the tags.
When doing 1 per 1 relink on the mp3 files that works. The .wave files won’t work but I know these are tracks I ripped recently and those were the last track I imported on my pervious macbook.
My tracks library on my Mac is one big chaos mess. I was already thinking of putting everything in 1 folder as you mentioned and letting it synchronise.
But will that be a good idea? And how should I do that?
Shall I create a folder on my MacBook, copy all tracks I have to that folder. Make that the synchronized folder in djay Pro.
I do have all my tracks on a External SSD, copied from my old macBook, in a whole bunch of folders.
So today I installed djay Pro on my new MacBook Air, I copy/pasted the data/playlist…
Maybe it is the right moment to paste all the tracks in 1 one folder.
When I re-open djay Pro, what will happen?
Nope, nothing you’re doing wrong
I have seen video. It has happened a few times on me whenever I did some massive library overhauls (such as rename folders in mac or moved 1000’s of tracks arounds). It’s a glitch (bug?)
Here is the fix:
Find the file in finder, drag n drop onto deck and let it fully load (re-read waveform). Drag it again and load on same deck.
Do this twice per track for all of those tracks (unfortunately. Every time you double-load the track you will see it ungreyed in library.. Once that ahppens it will never grey itself again in future.
Try one and let me know if it fixes (I have never worked with wav files tbh, as mine are mp4s
