After selecting „software control“ you have to select the left and right track load buttons to assign the virtual decks from djay to the RX3 hardware. I skipped this step before. After doing this it worked.
There are still a few things that seemed strange but nothing too problematic. For example on the RX3 the line levels for the individual tracks are not showing. Only the master level is displayed on the RX3.
Hello again, I still have trouble connecting the RX3 with DjayPro on MacOS.
I can load and play tracks but line faders are not working, EQ knobs are not working, cross fader not working. However I see the track and corresponding hot cues etc on the hardware display and and play and pause.
I am in external mixer mode with unchanged MIDI settings
Hi @turbopussy, please note, this is expected behavior when using an External Mixer Mode device like the XDJ-RX3. The physical Line Faders, EQs and Crossfader on the RX3 only control the circuitry inside the RX3 hardware mixer. They do not also send MIDI to djay. So, your Line Faders and EQs are working to control these functions within the physical mixer. The onscreen controls not moving within djay is expected.
You are probably used to using a regular MIDI controller that operates in Internal Mixer Mode. The RX3 is not like a regular MIDI controller - it’s more like a club mixer.
Not at all @turbopussy. The RX3 is fully compatible with djay on macOS. You just will not see the Faders or EQs move onscreen in djay as these operations are being handled within the hardware instead with the djay software. The resulting audible output is essentially the same.
The RX3 essentially handles all of the mixing and audio within the hardware. Your Hot Cues, Play/Pause and other MIDI controlled operations will be handled by djay.
