MacOS Music.app >> DJay (iOS) without Apple Music Sign up?

Hi community,

I was a DJay subscriber for 2 years fromo 2021-2023 and I used to be able to keep all my music in Apple Music, synch it to iOS via Finder and access it in DJay on iOS. My library consists mainly of edits I make myself using LogicPro, etc. I export my edits to mp3 format and I then import them into Apple Music, then synch to DJay.

I just subscribed to DJay again after a 1y hiatus, and I can’t seem to use that workflow anymore.

My song library is still accessible in Apple Music on MacOS. I can play my edits there. But in DJay on iOS I am prompted to Sign up for Apple Music when I try to access my library.

Do I get a subscription to Apple Music even to just access my own Edits?

Will that even work? I can’t seem to play my edits on the Music app on iOS either…

Thanks!

p.s. is everyone switching from MacOS Apple Music to Rekordbox because of this? I don’t think Apple is interested in helping DJs manage their song libraries… they just want retail customers to buy music and stream it… seems like two completely different use cases…

Hi @Nuggets_Music, please confirm that you are in the Local Music Source and not the Apple Music Streaming Source (see below).

Hi @Slak_Jaw , thanks for your reply!

My Local Music Source says “No songs found on your device”, despite the fact that it took ~1h to synch my 15 GB of music from MacOS to iPhone.

This seems to be related to the fact that all my songs are grayed out in Apple’s Music app. When I try to play a song in the Music app, it complains that “This item is not currently available in your country or region”.

Note that this is the case even for original music recorded by myself and my band…

Thanks!

It sounds perhaps that you could be experiencing this issue:
