Main Out Effect: AU Sample Delay issue

ISSUE

When I use the “AU Sample Delay” it goes from 4800 SAMPS to 4410 SAMPS. It doesn’t allow me to change it back. I would like it to stay at 4800 SAMPLES. The music sounds better honestly when it’s at that setting. Is there any way that big could be fixed?

Hi @K.Royalty, thanks for sharing the details about your setup and the issue. Can you please try to capture a video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? Thanks!

Here’s what the issue is in the video below:

When I initially go into the DJay app and adjust the Sample Delay to 4800 Samps it works fine. (Sometimes it crashes) but when I exit the app and go back into it and try to adjust the Sample Delay back to 4800 samps I can only go up to 4410 I would like it to stay at 4800 Samps because it sounds significantly better

Thanks for the video @K.Royalty. That explains the issue much more clearly. I have forwarded this to the engineering team to see if they can reproduce the issue and offer any suggestions. I’ll report back here when I have news. Thanks!

Hi @K.Royalty, I spoke with engineering, please note that the sample delay isn’t a regular delay that creates repeats, it literally just creates latency, it doesn’t change anything else about the sound. djay defaults to 44100 Hz sample rate, so that will be the default maximum.

Please note that the adjustment is not a sample rate adjustment, this is a delay effect that

  • has a maximum delay of 1/10 of a second
  • denotes its delay value in number of samples
  • the maximum value always means 100ms of delay

Thank you for this explanation! I just thought that a higher sample delay meant better audio when listening to music in the DJay app.

You’re welcome @K.Royalty
