hope i can phrase this right but im hoping you guy can help.

ive mapped the slicer function pads to fx pads instead and the right shift select arrow above the pads to switch between instant and hold. what im wanting to do is have the pad colours change to show which mode is active when i press that arrow. so its blue in instant and red in hold mode. at the moment its just blue until the effect is triggered and then its red. makes it difficult to show which mode im in. is there any way in mappings to have the pads change colour for this. i know you can change cue point colours but i cant see how to do it for anything else. i dont use slicer so its a dead function and i love the effects . have already mapped the ch 3 eqs to stem blend instead and its made mixing soooooo smooth for me. any ideas guys?

Hi @cassidy110, I understand what you are trying to achieve, but this isn’t currently possible within djay’s MIDI Learn tool as you can only change the LED colour for the button you are activating (ex the Instant FX Toggle Mode OR the Performance Pad). Since the Instant FX Pads send the same MIDI message if they are in Hold Mode or Temporary Mode, you cannot have different pad colours for each mode. If you know how to modify the MIDI Mapping XML code, you might be able to achieve what you’re after, but I don’t recommend this if you don’t know what you’re doing. I hope that helps!

What might be a better option would be to map the Instant FX Toggle Mode to a non-shift layer button. Then you can have an Off State LED colour and an On State LED colour. Your Instant FX Pads would still be the same colour whether you’re in Hold or Temporary mode, but your Toggle Button colour would still give you some feedback.

  1. To set the Off State LED colour for the Instant FX Toggle Mode, make sure MIDI Out is enabled and the Advanced MIDI Out Configuration is expanded. Move the Min Value slider to set the Off State LED colour.
  2. To set the ON State LED colour, move the Max Value slider.
