YOUR QUESTION:
Hello,
I want to sync the tempo from djay pro to my external fx unit (Eventide H9). I was doing this on iOS using Link-to-MIDI which sets up an Ableton Link connection between the fx unit and Djay Pro. I have switched to the Mac version of Djay Pro and this app doesn’t exist. Can anyone tell me how to send midi clock out to my fx unit? (I don’t need to use Ableton Link, that just seemed like the easy solution and I don’t want to run Ableton to do this.)
There are hardware solutions like … https://www.circuithappy.com/, but of course you have to decide if those are worth the money for you.
Since I’m also using Link-to-MIDI on Ipad, I’m not quite sure, but shouldn’t AUM or Audiobus be capable of converting Ableton Link to Midi clock (I have both of them on Ipad, but not used them to establish Midi clock because I use Link to MIDI) ?
Thanks for your comments both! In the end the mistake was on my side - I didn’t realize Link-to-Midi exists as an OS X app as well as iOS! You need an Apple silicon computer to run it but it works like a charm.
As further info for future readers: I didn’t find a software solution aside from Link-to-Midi. The issue is you need something which converts the Link data into Midi data since my fx box doesn’t speak Link. It’s not just connecting Link-enabled box to Link-enabled Djay Pro. Something like Audiobus itself does not magically translate Link into hardware MIDI clock unless another app/module in the chain does the conversion. FYI.
