MIDI Commands to Change UI Pad Modes

I’ve attempted both @IvanMotta and @jvrzv work above, using my Hercules DJControl Mix Ultra devices default midi mappings, and switching it over to a starrypad mini devices XML mappings. No luck, using both the reloop buddy as the custom class and without. I was using the ‘turntable1.padModeAutoLoop’ as the string name.

But I’m no midi expert, very new to it, and even had to have chatgpt walk me through some of it. Hoping we can get more insight, into why they won’t at least give us a standardized set of midi commands we can manually put in the xml files to get this working. I did notice that in some cases it won’t display the button press in the gui config window at all. Maybe this is a route they go down where if you set your mapping for certain pads it displays some sort of warning in the gui that says you’ve modified your config via the xml file, and that modifying that specific pad via the gui is no longer active. At least since this seems to be a very frequently requested option.

Hi @nickj, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the additional feedback.

I’ve read a number of threads on this topic but they’re all pretty old and a lot of threads and search results talk about iOS or about how the FLX10 is fully supported by djay pro now.

Has the pads changing the UI feature (hot cue showing hot cues, pad fx showing the pad fx) been added yet? Or has anybody found a solid workaround? Djay isn’t very forgiving when it comes to screen real estate.

Hi @keyska, I have merged your new topic with this existing one. Pads changing the UI has not yet been added.

Thanks! Out of curiosity, how large is the Djay dev team? This isn’t the first high demand feature I’ve seen being voted on for years and never implemented.

You’re welcome @keyska. Our entire team is currently around 30 people. You can see the full list in the About djay Pro section of the djay menu.

127 votes so far

Any crowd funding options available for feature requests @Slak_Jaw? :crossed_fingers:t2:

I’m afraid not @TheSouthernDJ

I have a Mixtour Pro and when I select a pad mode twice in a row, to my SURPRISE the screen follows!

Just figured this out a few weeks ago and is awesome. So don’t know when that slipped in there, or always was, and just discovered it, but it works. Don’t recall it being in the manual.

So if I hit mode-hot cue first time, screen does not change, hitting it again changes the screen to show the hotcues.

Works for hotcues, bounce loop, pitch cue, instant fx, auto loop, sampler, saved loops and neural mix.

In other words a double tap, does change the UI Pad Mode (at least on a Mixtour Pro and iPad) on a Mac with DJay it also changes the UI, but differs per pad mode sometimes (shows or hides areas)

Very happy with this and I hope :folded_hands: they keep it in there.

DJay 5.6.8 on iPad

DJay 5.6.8 on Mac

Thanks for sharing @Ramon_Richie. This feature has always been there for the Mixtour Pro.

@Slak_Jaw Please make it known!!!

I’ve seen a lot of posts people complaining about this (here, on facebook, youtube etc) not working and I chimed in as well that it was a missed opportunity.

Maybe it would be good to add to the Mixtour Pro explainer PDF. I just stumbled on it by chance.

I could not find it in the Manual, the explainer or the Laidback Luke hidden features.

I actually left my Mixtour collecting dust for a year cause I missed this. Since I discovered it, I finally took it out on a gig… Think I’m trying to say, this not being in the manual (or not clear if I missed it,) is I think for more people a big issue.

I don’t believe it’s officially documented anywhere as it is limited to a very small number of controllers.

One common denominator between the mixtour pro and the reload buddy is that they’re both made for djay pro by reloop. Someone over there might be able to help lol

Uhm, but there is a specific manual for the Mixtour Pro, wouldn’t you want it in there? I bought the Mixtour Pro from a guy who was dissapointed with it, and so was I when I first used it. Cause I use samples and instant fx, but you can’t see that easily on the iPad (especially when starting out).

It wasn’t until I found out by accident that I decided to use the Mixtour and iPad on live gig.

Ah yes good one, I’m barking up the wrong tree haha. I’ll send them a message

Hi @Ramon_Richie, thanks for the additional feedback. We don’t write the user manuals for the hardware we support. So, it’s probably better to share this feedback with the Reloop Support team.

Yes, good idea… did it, fingers crossed….

Thanks @Ramon_Richie

whatever everything meant i get what it means. it means your the cool beans..talking my lingo of wants ands needs of the djaypro midiconfigs. its been driving my filters crazy inside

I need this feature too for my GRV6, otherwise i’ll must cancel my subscription. Thank you for your work
