Missing tags after Rekordbox import

djay 5.4
macbook pro 2.3 8 core Sonoma

Hi,

i imported 2 crates a total about 900 songs from the new feature that reads Rekordbox. (no external drive, all songs are on internal drive in one master music folder)

90% of songs imported from RB are missing tags.

missing: ratings, released, color, composer, label.

Now i have to redo all my tags.

produce the problem-
1 go to RB crates in djay’s finder
2 highlight all songs from crate
3 drag songs from RB crate to djay crate
4 notice in djay’s crate all songs are missing tags that were there before importing

Hi @Donn. Thanks for the details. Can you please share a screenshot of the songs in the RB Crates source with the tags and another screenshot of the same songs after you dragged them into My Collection with the missing tags?

Hi, I have a similar problem. Djay Pro doesn’t import the tonality and waveform of a lot of tracks and I don’t know why.
I have all my music on an external USB-drive. In Rekordbox, each track is analyzed. Example of my deep house list:

I exported my collection in a XML file. I imported this wth no errors in djay pro since the last update.
In djay pro, some tracks of the list above have no tonality and no waveform - so when I load a track like “Mother”, the wavevorm must initially be created in djay pro. Also the first song “Be Someone - Extended Mix” in the picture should have the tonality 3B, but in Rekordbox and in the XML file it is 4A.

When I saw this, I tried to export the XML file again but this time at the internal hard drive of my PC. I imported this again but with the same result.
I opened the XML file in Visual Studio to check, whether the tonality tags exists. But they did, just to show one track of them:

So, I don’t really know, what’s the problem. Could the import errors be caused by the fact that the same song already exists in djay pro’s own media library, leading to overlap issues? May you help @Slak_Jaw ?
I use the latest djay pro Windows version.

Hey @Don & @JurGroove,

I am sorry to hear that.
It looks a lot like the problem that “Mix Master G” described today in his AMA live stream:

Going from RB to djay by using this new external Apps feature can give some problems. It eventually messes up with Serato Cues that still are in the files.

It’s in the video at around 30 minutes:

Hi Slak_Jaw,

Is it possible after dragging the RB songs into Djay, the RB tags are replacing the tags I made in Djay?
In any case, after dragging songs from RB to Djay, Djay’s tags somehow get erased.

I’m sharing the same music folder in both programs. Is there a way I can import only the playlists from RB into Djay without any tags?
The reason I’d like to do this is to use RB Iphone version to make playlist on the go and then import only the playlists into Djay.

Thanks!

Thanks DJ_Big_Blender!

Hi @Donn, are you dragging tracks from the RB Collection External Apps Source → My Collection? If so, this will currently re-import that track and use the data from the RB app, replacing any existing metadata in My Collection. This goes for any other source in djay.

Hello! It’s been more than a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
