“Mix Point Link” on FLX10

  • Device model: Mac Mini M4
  • Version of operating system: Tahoe
  • Version of djay: 5.6.2
  • Hardware/controllers used: DDJ-FLX10
  • Hardware firmware version: 1.5

Does Djay Pro through its integration with the DDJ-FLX10 either support or emulate the “Mix Point Link” feature? From the pioneerdj.com website page:

“New Mix Point Link for seamless transitions

Take advantage of a completely new playback concept in rekordbox that enables you to create slick musical progression in your sets by linking mix points in tracks so the next song kicks in at the perfect moment. You might set the next track to start from the beginning of its melody when the vocal of the current song ends, ensuring a seamless transition without a sound clash. There’s no need to count down or press play manually, which also leaves your hands free to create mash-ups or add effects.”

Whilst this feature might have been originally created as something unique for the Rekordbox DJ to use with these buttons I just wondered if Algoriddm’s dev team had come up with a clever way of emulating this functionality through the built-in MIDI mapping, given how many options there are?

I’ve not really seen this feature in action, so I’ve not really got my head around how it’s working.

Has anyone on this forum experimented with it, given how popular the hardware is? On the face of it there’s three physical buttons dedicated to this feature on the controller so it must hold some value worth exploring.

Hi @James_Gillies, I’m pretty sure the answer is no, but let me confirm with our dev team…

Hi again @James_Gillies, this is not strictly mapped to djay in the same way. However, this feature is basically what we use for Automix Start and End Points. With the FLX10 (built-in) those corresponding buttons are mapped to CFX Next and CFX Previous.

Thanks @Slak_Jaw, I will have a closer look the next time I am playing with the FLX10.
